I have fibro and arthritis in my feet. I get PIP but not the mobility side so I don’t automatically get a blue badge. Has anyone else here been successful in applying separately and getting the badge from their council?
Thank you
Debbie

Hiya I have Fibromyalgia and PIPs. I do have a blue badge. You need to make you case. I have to walk with a stick and am unsteady. I also get very tired if I have to walk any long distances. I put all of it down. I have moved across councils and have had no issue renewing my badge. Good luck as I have know people who have not got one but have been in same boat as me. I would also recommend appealing if they do say no as I was told that sometimes councils will say an automatic no first time request.
Hi, yes I have. Filled the form in online, and my local Council invited me for an assessment by Occupational Therapist. It was just to see you walking and how far. It wasn’t anything like what people applying for PIP have to go through.
Yes I have a blue badge and I did not have PIP award. I filled in the form with supporting documentation and was called in for an interview. I was collected from reception - they watched me walk to the office they asked a few questions about shopping, walking, what sort of car I had and escorted me back to the waiting area (again they watched me walking back). When I left reception I saw they were still watching me in the car park. A few days later the badge arrived in the post. I have since renewed it and not had to go in again for assessment. All quite quick and painless really.
Hi Burberry i have fibromyalgia and coronary heart disease and i recently applied and got a blue badge. It is a god send . It makes it so much excitement i have to go to a supermarket. All you can do is apply you have nothing to lose.
Hi, yes I have a blue badge which I got before I received PIP. I have arthritis as well as fibro and meet all the criteria. Different councils are harder to get blue badges but some councils are now including hidden disabilities
Hi..yes I also have fibro and arthritis in my feet (and sciatica) and got a blue badge a couple of years ago. I can't walk far so was necessary. When you apply explain worst case senario..think you have to push for these things. Good luck and let us know how it goes
Hi, i applied online to my local council for a blue badge, before i got PIPs, and they sent me the badge without an interview or assessment. I did point out that i had struggled for 5 years before asking anyone for any help whatsoever. Dont know if that swung it for me or not, but glad i got the badge. Have just renewed it, same procedure, did it online and no assessment. Just go for it. Worst that can happen is that they say no. Good Luck.
