Should I be concerned?

Hello everyone, I've been put on different drugs through the years to see what works for my fibromyalgia. This week I've just started Duloxotine 30mg once a day. I'm also on Sertraline 150mg a day, Naproxin 30mg, Dihydrocodeine, 30mg x4 per day. Little concerned reading about the Duloxotine and Sertraline making too much serotonin and getting very ill. I'm on the lookout for symptoms. Anyone else have those two combinations?

Many thanks x

Hi, I’ve just started on Duloxotine today, I also take Sertraline 100mg, Amitriptyline 40mg, Tramadol, 100mg and Co codamol. I do have another chronic pain condition as well, hence the Tramadol, Amitriptyline and Co Codamol. I also take Prednisolone, Leflunomide and Tocilizumab, for another autoimmune condition. Who would have thought that up until 3 years ago I was in perfect health 🤔. Sorry I have totally digressed from your question but I was interested in what you had to say about the combination of Sertraline and Duloxotine, looks like I might have some reading to do.

I take both Duloxetine and Dihydrocodine and have found these to be a great combination. I haven't had any side effects at all. Duloxetine has been a wonder drug for me and have been taking for a couple of years now. My worst problem(amongst many) with Fibro was inflammation of connective tissue which made movement very painful and this has subsided to a very low level with Duloxetine and enabled me to walk again. I also have severe osteo arthritis and take Ibuprofen and Dihydrocodeine to help ease the pain. I have been on this for over 20 years and haven't had any problems. Dihydrocodeine can be addictive, if you find yourself needing more, talk to your doctor as this can be a sign of addiction starting.

I take 3 antidepressants, duloxetine 120mg, Joncia 150mg, and Mirtzapine 30mg and I'm fine on those.

Cant help with the sertraline (I read out of curiosity as currently only on sertraline and having a flare up so wanted to read up before contacting gp) but noticed naproxen as a regular medication in your list. I used to take it a few years ago for my fibro but now cant use it it any other NSAIDs - I was at work one day and ended up in a and e thinking I was having a heart attack and it turned out that my oesophagus and stomache lining are damaged and I have to take omeprazole every day now. The ae dr said it was due to regular use of naproxen which apparently shouldnt be used at high doses regularly. Only mentioning this so if you get chest pains or severe reflux you will know it could be caused by that and can ask dr to change. Take care I hope you get an answer to your question

I’d say that the amount of duloxetine in combination with your sertraline dose is highly unlikely to take you over the limit regarding excess serotonin in the brain. I’m on 200mg sertraline daily wanting to switch to dulox for fibro.
