Questions about pain

Hi can I ask you lovely people about one ‘type’ of pain I experience, firstly do you get it and if so have you found anything that relieves it?.. can you explain it?

I get times when I’ll feel what I’m guessing is nerve pain let’s say it’s first noticeable in my jaw bone. It’s like a sharp pull/tug feeling, it will happen a few times like a shock feeling just coming and going randomly. But after I’ve felt it in my jaw, I’ll get the same pain in other random parts of my body simultaneously so it’s like I get a shock in my jaw, upper arm, neck and ankle (as one example) all together. The sensation is the same in each place. The various places can change. I don’t know if it’s a fibromyalgia thing and it’s really difficult to explain it to people 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone relate or have any ideas?

It starts as very uncomfortable niggling but becomes quite relentless at times.

Hi what you have described is exactly how I feel, I have been going to the doctors since before 2015, I only got a fibromyalgia diagnosis 2 days ago! But deep down I knew it was, after so many scans and tests for other things coming back negative. I also get the weird pain in the jaw. Sometimes the pain is almost like a really annoying sensation, but then other times it's more like a nerve pain that moves around my body

Hi there, I am sorry your suffering with what sounds a horrible issue. I can't offer any help I'm afraid I've had fibro for almost 40years and I've never suffered with what you describe has been part of my symptoms. Others may have we all suffer differently.

I see you've left your post unlocked. For privacy reasons you may want to lock it. Also you tend to get more replies on locked posts :)

It's not a rule but if you wish to lock your post this link will show you how.

Yep i get the randow sharp shooting pains in toes, jaw even along my face towards my lip. Luckily for me they are just random and are very painful for as long as they last. Amitriptyline helped with the toe pain if thats any help to you as that was worse especially when walking. Maybe see what the DR says.

Yes, this is a fibro thing. Neuropathic pain. This is the type of pain you are told is in your head, it's not real there's nothing wrong with you. Well yes, it is your brain telling you there is something wrong when your body isn't obviously injured but it is still very real. I compare it to someone who has an amputated arm but can still feel pain in the fingers that aren't there anymore. I also get a tingling sensation in my arms others describe as fizzy, if you could hear it it would sound like static on the radio and its intensity/loudness increases the more I overdo it. I find a heat pack helps distract the brain others use TENS machines but ultimately I do less until it settles.

Yes, even if there is no extra activity to account for it.

I don’t really get any swelling other than bloating but I feel like areas are swollen if that makes sense?

When I'm in a flare I'm in pain everywhere. Even bed sheets can feel almost intolerable. I go up two sizes in nighties and cannot wear anything tight including bras. Sorry I can't help your question but we all know that this is a horrible illness x

Hello there, we do seem to get a lot of pains that vary in different parts of our bodies ,sometimes a pain that might be sharp and shooting like, if I’ve any concerns I would normally ask for a call back from either my doc/practioner nurse sometimes a chat can put your mind at ease and be sure , take care xx

My jaw pains off and on, left and right, seemed to me to be my trigeminus nerve and/or fibro. I'd already asked my dentist 3 years ago about the pain on the left, he couldn't find anything. Now, before going to my neurologist with it, I told his colleague, he immediately x-rayed the whole jaw and found two root inflammations. As soon as he'd treated them, both stopped. I'm also sure this jaw pain exacerbated other pains in my body. So I'd definitely say: Please go to the dentist and insist on a complete x-ray, all of you with jaw pain who haven't yet!
