I’m currently going through a spike of pain at night time which is spoiling my sleep. I’ve been crying for half an hour, unable to get comfortable after waking from 3hrs of sleep.
If anyone has any suggestions that help especially for pelvis, lower back and neck.
Any help would be appreciated, these flare ups really get me down
So sorry that you are feeling such pain. I do mot have Fybro but know what it is to be awake at night and sometimes cry for hours. I came across your post by accident. I was restless and climbed into bed with some corn flakes (I never eat in bed normally) I thought would play a game of Solitaire on my phone. For some reason this site popped up and there you were. I felt you needed some.comfort and to know you were not alone in the nigh even if I cannot take away your physical pain. I have Alexa playing me some soothing music at.the.moment and she has some sounds that can relax the.mind. I just ask her to help.me sleep. Bless you Trexy. Sending you big hugs..
Hello Trey,I am awake for the same reason....I have this remedy and it always works...Get up and make a nice hot chocolate with an hot water bottle..you will soon settle.
Hi Trexy, I had 10 reasons for not being able to sleep, got most of them down. I wake and get up 5-8x at night. Softer topper for the hard mattress I otherwise need helped a lot of the back pains you've mentioned. Plus trigger pointing myself. Osteopathy in the longer run. What helps me most and quickest in cases like this is a 1 min. ice cold shower, not warm before. Then cuddling back in, being tired and relieved immediately. Just enjoying it, not pressuring, but I almost always get to sleep again then. Soothing music praps with an autogenic training voice is OK for taking the pressure out, but doesn't help me sleep.
Hi Trexy, I use a 4 way massage tool every night, even before falling asleep. I lie on the bed and place it at the points where I feel the most tension. 30 seconds is usually enough for a single point to relax. Hope that helps you too
Hi sorry your having such an awful time. I used to go through the same every night. I now mostly sleep through. I have 10mg of amitripyline about 7pm.i take a warm epsom salt bath. I use an electric shiatsu back massager. I have a memory foam mattress and a contour memory foam pillow. I sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees. Finally I put a few drops of lavender oil on my pillow. This sounds like a recipe 😂. But honestly it's the recipe to a good night's sleep. With a good night's sleep you can face anything. I hope this helps you. Take care. X

So relaxing, I react really badly to amitriptyline and I also sleep with a pillow between my knees when I lie on the side. I just struggle to get comfortable in any position after a short period of time it’s just agony.
So sorry to hear that. I have had both hips replaced and before the first one, in particular, with the combination of hip pain and fibro I never slept through the night. The doctor gave me sleeping pills but they only worked for a short time.
Two things made it, not better, but easier to bear. The first was as blanket cage in bed to take the weight of the duvet off my legs. I put a sheet under the duvet on my legs and the duvet on top. The second was an electric recliner chair, not a cheap option, but I moved to it when I woke in pain and could keep shifting position and catching a little sleep in between.
Or, if you sleep alone and can afford it what about an electric adjustable bed? I had them in hospital here in Spain and they were marvellous.
I was told to get an electric bed about six years ago, an option I never followed through. But I’m in a committed relationship now I don’t know how that would work with my partner. I’m only 21 years old so money isn’t a resource I have much of.
Clever thought about the duvet cage though might have to consider that one thank you. X
You can get beds that are effectively two singles together, half electric, but you need separate covers, and you may still disturb your partner. That's why we didn't go for it. So sorry you have such problems at such a young age.
take care xx

I have many issues with sleep and if I dont get enough of it I dont function well the next day. I ha e tried various things but whats working for me right now is a triangular support pillow, memory foam mattress topper, soft pillows and 1 tramadol before bed (tramadol is one of those drugs that you need to be careful with and many doctors don't like prescribing it but i started taking it for stomach and bowel issues then realised it combats my fibro pain at night). If I am really bad I will take one during the day to help me get through work (work full time in a nursery which can be extremely hard at times). I have started having an Epson salt bath every night too...it helps with the chronic feet and back pain before settling in bed. Hope you find something that works as there's nothing worse than lack of sleep while battling fibro pains 😫
I understand how you feel . I’ve had problems sleeping for years now . When my pain is bad I use a tens machine. Have allergies to most pain killers . I hate night time it’s so lonely and everything seems worse. I’ve occasionally got up and made a cup of tea and a few biscuits plus my tens and soft music . Hope you pain soon settles .
Blossom, I understand that, it sometimes exasperates me as little, but - I try to love the night time, like I always used to - getting up & moving alleviates the pains again a bit and I can just do certain calm things. I am often creative, make music. I have to get up usually about 5-6x, if I'm lucky for 5 mins., sometimes for 1 or 2 hours... My computer is in night shift after 7pm and before 9am. Trying working again will put more pressure back into having to sleep, but I'll just have to go to bed even earlier, so I have 10-11 hours time for it.
Hi,
I am a Mum who's daughter is suffering and we have just purchased a weighted blanket. We purchased this from a high street brand but are expensive, so far this has helped her sleep, it might not work for everyone, but definitely worth looking into
