Hi Matthew.

There are lots of audio relaxation podcasts and downloads available to help you wind down. I don't know if it's ok to add them but 'the Meditation Podcast' was recommended to by my psychologist. There are lots of different audio meditations on there. It's free.

I hope you find something that works for you

Hi Matthew,

If you look further back down the posts you will see one called "No Sleep" from Sean, and there are plenty of good ideas there which might be of use to you. I really sympathise as I suffer with chronic insomnia too, I think it's all part and parcel of our fibro....gggrrrrrr.

Anyway, I wish you the very best and do take a peek at the other post 👍🏻😀😀😀

Foggy x

Hi Matthew

There are a couple of thing which helped me a lot:

Sleep Pillow: an app which has a number of white noise tracks. I find the 'storm' track really relaxing.

Deep breathing. It sounds corny but when I was at my worst I used to do this to distract from the pain; and you'll also find you start yawning if you're doing it right. I imagine I'm snorkelling so I breathe through the mouth rather than just the nose.

Avoiding computer screens and smartphones for at least one hour before bed also helps me. I'm always amazed by how bad my insomnia is if break my own rule and start checking things on my phone shortly before going to bed. When I do eventually fall asleep the quality of sleep I get seems to be worse too and I ache a lot more in the morning. I have a Kindle paperwhite (the light is a lot softer) which doesn't keep me up. My iPhone on the other hand, does.

Hope some of this helps you get a good night's sleep. I know what it's like as I had a long period of not being able to sleep with the fibro. The above helped me start to sleep properly again and once that happened I've found I've recovered to the point where I now sleep pretty well most nights. :-)

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing sleep issues, and as a life long insomniac I sympathise with you immensely. Many of the Fibro medications do contain a sedative component so it may be worth discussing your medication with your GP to try and get one that works for you. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
