i am having great trouble sleeping. tried many 'natural' ways to help - lavender in my room, all over my bed, reading, warm baths and drinks etc.
i have decided to try a herbal sleeping tablet. the one i have chosen is call naturasleep.
does anyone have experience with using herbal sleeping tablets? i have taken 2 tonight but dont seem to feel any effect. its says you can take up to 3 but i am a bit wary incase they all kick in at once.
i am wondering do they make you sleepy and go to sleep or do they help you stay asleep once you have dropped off?
many thanks

I personally have never found herbal sleeping tablets work. I find that taking Amitriptyline (50mg) in the afternoon makes me sleep better at night. I have to take my tablet in the afternoon because by bedtime I am sleepy. If I take it at night time then I am zonked out for most of the following day so it has to be timed,
I have taken some herbal sleeping tablets such as Quiet life sleeping tablets, but it didn't work for me. It got very frustrating when I was in pain and couldn't sleep.....so I simply went to the doctor and he gave me some sleeping tablets.
I took them for a while but then came off them as I didn't wish to be reliant on them for sleeping, so right now I just work through it in the best way I can, it's hard I know but you WILL get there in the end - promise
Hi there,I have tried lots of things but I have to say Amitrypyiline 100mg helped me for a while, but my pain was so bad every night, when my prescribed me pregabalin for my pain,I have found that they also give me at least 5 hours sleep continous, all I ever used to do was wake about 20 to 30 times a night, then I couldn't function for the day time.
I feel better than I have for a few years,I tried sleeping tablets from the doctors, but he only gave me them when I was dxd with breast cancer, they didn't work either.
Hope you find something that helps you real soon, take care Sandy.
My doctor ended up prescribing A sleeping tablet called zopiclone as I found Amitryptaline gave me heart palpitations. The only effect I found from the herbal tabs was vivid dreams and little or no extra sleep. On third night of trying woke up standing by bedroom wall trying to open a non existent door so filed them under bin and went to doc. They will only supply sleeping tabs these days in a very limited number, but I try to only use them once a week and find they do help.
well as for getting me to sleep they tablets didnt work but i did manage to have a solid 6 hours sleep which was amazing!
the only thing is that when i woke during the early hours my eyes and lips were slighty swollen so i took an antihistamine incase i was having a reaction to the sleeping tablets so im unsure as to if its the sleeping pills that helped me stay asleep or the antihistamine! either way i got a solid block of sleep so i am happy!
hi,i took herbal tabs for ages, they didnt work but i took them every night thinking..ooh i will give them a chance to work ..just another day or two etc..but with phenergan tabs i started on one tab and could feel myself falling asleep and must admit i slept till late the next morning and felt a bit hangovery if you know what i mean,so i took half and it worked for me,had a good nights sleep,so consequently i could do more the next day resulting in me using more energy so didnt take one the next night, then i found my self thinking this is great i know that by taking phenergan i sleep so the desparate feeling of getting into bed with the thought of..i must sleep tonight..seems less urgent...knowing that help was there if i needed it and it was guarented to work..i hope you can understand my waffling on and my reasoning! lol xxxxx
