When I was maybe 7 years old, I had terrible aching pains in my legs at night that kept me awake, not dissimilar to the pain of fibro. I was told they were growing pains, but I do wonder if these pains are connected in some way?

Growing pains
Growing pains are very common and there is content from arthritis charities on it but not all people with growing pains go onto have fibro or indeed any chronic condition. However, some juvenile fibro sufferers can be dismissed early on as just having growing pains.
I had pain in my right knee for many months when I was about 8 and I was told the same as you. But I was also given some cream to rub on my knee which made my knee very hot. Next time I had joint pain was in my right Ankle when 22 years after Glandular fever . And that apparently was because I’d had Glandular fever. My Mother didn’t believe me until she read a article in a newspaper about 10 years later. Next time I had pain in my left ankle & unable to walk, the reason given was because I was pregnant. Im just waiting for them to tell me it’s old age !
I was very tall for my age too.
I had growing pains as a child and glandular fever as a teen! I also had 2 lots of surgery on my hand (I had an accident and cut through nerve, tendon and artery) to repair it.. it was after the second surgery I noted the real symptoms of fibromyalgia it then took a further 6 years to get diagnosed. Interesting, I wonder if growing pains and glandular are linked to fibromyalgia.. my cranial chiropractor thinks so!
Sounds familiar to me too. I had growing pains as a child and was hospitalised with glandular fever when I was 15..
Makes you wonder!! Trikki
I also was very tall for my age and had growing pains and have had 3 bouts of glandular fever.
