Little things that help

Good evening, ive been struggling with cooking and diet generally for a few years. Rarely able to gain any traction to cook, often forgetting to eat and fasting for a few days sometimes. I guess living alone doesn't help much either!

Last week I bought an Airfryer from eBay and it's brilliant, so versatile and convenient for cooking healthy quick food. No washing up and it cooks frozen foods, cheese toasties and chips (real ones made from spuds) in 15 mins.. perfectly! I thought it would be worth passing the tip as I think it's going to help a lot. If anyone already has one.. I'm all ears for recipes! There's some great groups on FB for inspiration

Finding something which helps can make a huge difference. We've had an air fryer for a few years now, and don't use it to full potential, as used mainly for chips etc.

I bought it for chips Hazel, but have picked up many great ideas form Facebook groups. Everything is possible! Today I'm dehumidifying kiwis.. I'm enthused!

I’m glad you sorted something out.

You need to eat, even if it’s o ly a bit.

My appetite is rubbish,it does help as I cook for husband,at least it reminds me to eat something myself.

I have developed a taste for muller rice pots.

Hi thanks so much for passing this on. I too with being on my own now don't eat a healthy diet. I just haven't the energy these days and it can be quite painful doing anything like peeling veg, making homemade soups, and preparing dinners, so it is easy oven cooked foods or sandwiches I usually have. My husband loved soups and things and I made so many different meals for him especially when he was having chemo to try and encourage him to eat. I am not a great meat eater either but last week I cooked some very lean rump steak in a casserole in the oven and made some veg with it which was nice and so easy to make but this is unusual for me to do anything like this now.

I made christmas dinner at my house just for 3 of the family that could manage, but had everyone with me on boxing day. I bought a slow cooker as a friend swears by it, cooks everything in it. I usually do a turkey breast joint and roast beef for choice, so thought would try the slow cooker for the meat and did the turkey joint in the oven the night before and left the meat cooking over night in the slow cooker. It was so tender and succulent and freed up my oven. I keep forgetting to use it and normally it just sits gathering dust at times on top of my kitchen cupboards.

I love having all the family at Christmas, but after Christmas/Boxing day last year with having fibro and the other chronic painful issues which affect my knees neck and back I spent almost a week in bed afterwards right over the New Year period with pains all over I just wondered if it was worth the effort ending up being so unwell? I don't know if I will be able to do Christmas dinner again sadly and thought it would be no bother for me as I have always done it, but realise my condition has got so much worse and some things I just can't do now , it is hard to accept really!

Could you tell me what make of Air-Fryer you have bought it maybe something that could make life a bit easier for me and get me eating healthier foods. There is nothing like homemade chips lol. I hate the frozen kind and never eat them. A friend who is very bad with Arthritis uses one all the time and never uses her oven at all. I think it is for safety reasons also as her hands are quite bad but I have never asked her about her Air-Fryer. I will certainly look into this. Many thanks x
