Hi there, nice to meet you :) Has Flyby7 suggested maybe the best place would be to start with a visit to your doctor. Have you already been diagnosed with fibro may I ask ?

Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information support friendship and laughter too. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org

There are a few medications that your doctor can consider

Amitriptyline is often tried first, as this can help as a muscle relaxant, pain relief and help with sleep.

Duloxetine is also commonly used, as are gabapentin or pregabalin.

Tramadol, either on its own or taken with paracetamol is another commonly used medication.

However, it can be trial and error finding a medication or a combination which helps, and medication may not take the pain away completely. Many people find that they get no relief from medication or cannot tolerate side effects.

You can get information on benefits and financial support from our benefits helpline on 0300 999 0055 (Mon, Wed, Fri 10.00-12.00) or email benefits.advice@fmauk.org

Hi Shehram

Looks like you've had some really good help & advice from HU members already.

Your GP is the best person to discuss your treatment options with as everyone is different & medication that works for some might not work for others, it really is trial & error.

Exercise is whatever you can manage, stretching muscles is good, walking, swimming ..... doing something you enjoy is preferable.

I think most people would agree anything you can do to keep mobile is so worthwhile.

Lots of people on here have multiple health conditions and with medication, working with their Gp's etc continue to work while others just can't anymore.

Everyone is affected differently, some people more so than others, symptoms are similar but there is nothing quite as simple as a solution, if only there was🥴

It is trial and error. I have found over the years that pacing myself really helps 👍 small tasks (break it down into small, manageable pieces) and often. I may do half an hour of slooooow housework or gardening, then an hour rest.... listen to your body.... you'll soon learn what is best for you 😀 take care and try not to overdo it xx
