I'm similar, if it wasn't for my bedtime meds I probably wouldn't get any sleep xxxx
I take co codamol, melatonin and mirtazepine and still awake at 3 most nights. Each month have at least one night when I am just up all night. Its awful isn't it, unless you have insomnia and pain stopping you sleep its hard to understand.
Had a meltdown yesterday as was so tired and the pain really bad, I never usually cry for this reason.
I take Gabapentin, plus 125mgs Amitryptiline at night. I still wake with pain.
Hope you find something that helps you.
Ellie
Just a general comment and I know as mentioned above it doesn't happen to everyone, but your body can get used to sleeping tablets like Zoplicone ( I have and they no longer work for me).
I got my first night's sleep for years within days of finding a cbd oil that suited me. I reduced pain meds by two-thirds & it's still working 2 years on.
I’m seriously considering CBD oil as I’ve exhausted all pain meds. Can you tell me what works for you? It’s a minefield to work out and the CBD Facebook support page is bewildering.
A friend recommended sigma natural.co.uk which is 10% strength & cheaper than most good cbd oils if you buy the 100ml bottle. Start with 2 drops, twice daily, before food & increase by 1 drop every few days till you start to feel benefit (took only 4 days for me but could take up to 2 weeks). Do not take with other medications as cbd oil can increase effects. Once you reach maximum benefit, stay on same dose for a few months then you may find you can reduce gradually by about half as a maintenance dose.
I do find that taking more than my body needs can cause slight anxiety so you need to find the right balance. I told my GP, who is amazed at how much I've reduced opiate painkillers. Some people only use cbd oil for extra bad days but for me, a daily maintenance dose keeps me more stable. My flares are less frequent & less severe.
Good luck. Do let me know how you get on.
Am so grateful to you for your advice. The only med am now taking is Etoricoxib and I wonder if I can still take this. Probably no one will know the answer except a doctor or pharmacist. I will definitely check out sigma.
I started cbd oil before telling my GP as they may not all support use of "untested" remedies but she couldn't dispute the dramatic reduction in my need (& ever-increasing prescriptions) for pain-killing meds. Haven't heard any bad stories other than "didn't work for me." Some high-street brands aren't worth taking so if researching, look for min 10% cbd strength & organic credentials. Try a small bottle first - that will be plenty to know if it works for you - & if one brand doesn't, try another. This was my third attempt & couldn't do without it now. The big bottle lasts me 6 months or more & I give it to my older dog too!
I have never had a problem sleeping until this week! I've been lucky with my fibro once diagnosed n on the right meds. I am doing less exercise so I think that may play a part but I am in constant pain somewhere and pins and needles hands and feet with burning knees! I am so fed up
Sleep for me is 3 hours a night max its so frustrating x
