Does anyone else suffer from aches and pain in upper arms and have a tight band round bottom of ribs which sometimes makes me catch my breath and makes me anxious and have panic attacks too. Would be grateful for any feedback. Thanks

If this is something new to you I would strongly suggest that you contact your GP as these symptoms can be related to quite a few illnesses. I suffer from costochondritis which is an inflammation of the rib cage and my ribs often feel as though someone has been kicking them and the pain is hot and burning or gnawing. When it is at its worse you try to breathe with shallow breaths because the pain is so intense and I can;t stand anything tight around this area some days even wearing a vest is painful.

Hope that you find out what is causing this discomfort and hopefully get some treatment which helps.x

Thanks for the reply, I also have costocondritis as well as fibro, these symptoms have been hanging around quite a while and it becomes very depressing when you can't see an end it it, doctor just shrugged and said its the fibro but at times it makes you think if it's something more serious, x

I had those symptoms and it turned out to be my gallbladder. I honestly would rather give birth, never thought I'd say that but it started to infect my liver too. Please go back to the doctor and insist on an investigation into this problem. All the best my fibro friend x

A symptom of fibromyalgia. Streach and breath deep. Ibuprofen helps.

Ladyhm, I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't have costochondritis - fingers crossed - .

I don't want to add in any way to your anxiety and take what I say with a pinch of salt but some people get MS hug which sounds like costo,

are you long diagnosed?

It's just when you used the word 'band' it made me think of it...Maybe do a bit more research on the costo and go back to your Doctor.

Thanks i will check dr google sgain lol and go back to see my gp yet again x

Hi ladyhm :)

Rosewine has described what I experience to a tee :)

I agree with everyone that discussing this with your GP is the way forward with this.

There are many things it could or could not be and easing your mind will help to alleviate some of the stress as it will probably be having an adverse affect on your fibro.

Sending healing fleecy fluffies to you and please let us know how things progress for you :)

xxx sian :)

Thanks for your comments all of you, I will certainly go and see my gp again next week, I think lots of my problems are anxiety related too xx

Hi, check with your GP for lactose or gluten intolerance, they can also cause similar pain and feelings of being held tightly round the lower ribs, just a thought, Linda x

Hello ladyhm, what you have described is a bit like what happened to me, and when I eventually went to hospital it turned out that I was suffering with gallstones, which then gave me the reason for all the acid reflux and galloping indigestion.

The pain in the upper arm could be from the way you are supporting yourself while you are in pain, you tend to focus on the pain and try not to make it feel any worse.

If you have been to the gp, then they might have started the process off, of referral to the bods in hospital, for the various tests and x-rays and scans, but I must say that even though you have well been to the gp, if things get any worse and you have more pain, and your breathing causes you distress, then ring 999 and go straight to the hospital.

With all the backlogs within the hospitals, your appointments to see a bod, could be a long time coming, and my view is not to wait if things feel worse, and you are no longer comfortable and the pain is becoming more intense.

Let us know how things go for you, ttfn from Karen.
