Dear Lauren, It is quite normal to have red, dry eyes, with these illnesses. You will need some artificial tears, sure that will help. I also have Bletharitis, and blocked ducts and cataracts forming, and only antibiotic drops help a bit. Love from Roselil

God bless you, Lauren. Your symptoms are typical of dry-eye syndrome.

I've had dry eyes for about 2 years, and sensitive to light, not even sure doctors know of the link but I do after researching it all, was going to mention it next time

hi just getting over a bout of Epi Scloritis red and painful eyes. If you get stabbing pains or blurred vision get them checked out at a good options. Drops especially for dry eyes are a great help.

Thanks Hun xxx

Dry eye syndrome seems to go hand in hand with fibro for a high number of people. I have Hylo Forte drops on repeat prescription. Also had a few attacks of blepharitis but managed to keep it away for the past few years. You could try an opticians appointment ( if they’re still operating normally) That will be a very thorough eye examination and out your mind at rest.

I'm only getting hypermelose as that's all my doctor said they do for dry eyes but a pharmacist said about something called forte, I'll ask my doctor for it now you've reminded me what it's called

And ill mention that there's a link between fibromyalgia and dry eyes

in reply to

It’s full name is Hylo Forte. I’ve used them for years. Tried a gel but I had a bad reaction to it.

Thanks holly berry I has eye test 3 months ago all fine so I'm sure it's to do with the fibromyalgia as many people have this its just so good to know as I get blurred vision to xxx

Dry eyes and dry mouth is frustrating but I’ve been experiencing it for years now. It’s listed as a side effect on many of the meds typically prescribed for fybro. So for those of us with daily meds made up with a combination of multiple drugs with this effect we just adapt. So sadly it is quite a high number of person’s with fybro and chronic pain/fatigue type conditions that experience these dry, irritating effects. I had asked my GP for help for this I don’t know how many times over the years but have never been given anything from them, just advised to get off the shelf eye drops.

I find the eye mist spray helps. Though myself dry mouth is a the bigger problem. My mouth goes so dry it can effect my swallowing, I try to talk and my lips grip to my teeth and my tongue goes absolutely bone dry to the touch. But I always carry a pot of spearmint gum with me, I have found this the fastest way to trigger the moisture in my mouth.

Hope this helps

I think there are times when we worry about our health ,we can feel alittle vulnerable and good we have somewhere like the forum to share our questions and thoughts. I tend to use eye drops more when the central heating is on , my eyes always feel more dry and sometimes itchy. But sometimes my local pharmacist is on hand to answer my questions when I don’t want to ring surgery. Hope you get some quality sleep this week xxxx

If there was something wrong with your liver you’d be peeing rust coloured urine and you’d look yellowish .

Dear Lauren, It is often a problem to have dry eyes and bletharitis alongside fibromyalgia. Moorfields eye hospital recommended I use hylo forte, blephaclean wipes and a eye compress heat bag which are of great help. Hope you get some relief soon from this distressing condition.
