Hi there,

I'm sorry you are having such problems with your eyes, I hope you have got some drops to help you with the condition. A friend has the same problem and does find the drops helpful, it doesn't stop it completely for her, but at least more bearable.

Sending positive healing vibes your way 😀

Foggy x

Hello diyeyes67.

I suffer from dry eyes. I've had this condition for about six years. When I first started with it I couldn't open my eyes on waking. They were so dry my eyeball would stick to my eyelid and it was so very painful. When I did get them open my vision was blurred. One time it was so bad I had to go to the eye department and have a lens over the eye to protect it because the cells of the eyeball had been lifted off. It was excruciatingly painfull.

I put an ointment in at night called VitA-POS or Lacri-lube if the other isn't available. During the day I use Hylo-Tears (these are on prescription). It has stopped them sticking together etc but it's not has Good has having your own tears. But at least it's better than before.

Hope this is of help to you. As I know how distressing it can be.

Best wishes

Thank you will try your suggestions as l haven't had those drops.

I too have dry eyes and my GP gave me drops to help but I found that the optician had better drops which work better. They are the same price as a prescription in the uk and they seem to last longer. I was diagnosed with Sjorgens last year which affects mouth, eyes and nasal cavities making them very dry. I also get little ulcer type things on the edge of my eyes which my Nan used to call titters. They are like little pimples that really sting and then after about a week pop and go away. I took a photo of the last one as they are usually gone ny the time I get to my GP. Hope you find something that helps soon. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Can you tell me what drops you use please Joolz

Hi I was prescribed Hypromellose by GP but find the opticians ones called Thera tears better as they are in seperate capulets and seem to keep my eyes less gritty and last longer. Maybe ask your GP if he can give you something first. Its my nasal passage that annoys me the most as it is always sore and dry and sometimes bleeds when I try to blow my nose.

I tend to use lacrilube during the day instead of eye drops as drops aren't enough for me. You need to keep putting drops or ointments in your eyes on a regular basis even if you don't feel like it otherwise you'll keep getting abrasions and they could damage your eye sight
