It is so nice to meet you ALL. I have joined here to get help with the Extreme nerve pain that I experience due to an accident from falling to the ground. I am now paralyzed in one of my legs. I developed Fibromyalgia thru out several parts of my body after the fall due to the extreme injury I sustained. I have tried several nerve meds to no avail as My body seems to be super sensitive to the SIDE EFFECTS. So, I am here to see what others do for Severe Nerve Pain....I mean SEVERE!!!! Its so nice to be here and I look forward to talking with you :-)

Hi ChefShelly , and a very warm welcome to the forum.

Have you tried Amitriptyline, Gabapentin or Pregabalin? They would be the meds used most often for nerve pain.

Thanks for the contact, I appreciate the warm Welcome MOAL61 :-)

I have tried Amitriptyline several times in fact, but I could never get past the zombie feeling it would give to me. However, I am NOW Trying it again....started like 4 days ago on 10 mg.....So far it is not helping...I think I read that it could take 2 to 6 weeks to fully help with pain. So far I have gotten lots of heart fluttering and shaking type feels.....chest pounding like I just ate a whole case of chocolate bars before bed....lol....but it has been keeping me awake...but one night out of the 4 nights, I had NO Issues, and I slept great....So I am not sure why two nights ago it went great but the other nights have not been great. I am willing to TRY This medicine one more time....as most other things I have tried do not help. I appreciate you writing to me ;-)

hello there dear. I suffer with severe nerve and burning pain, but over the years, have somehow managed to get through each relapse, just with over the counter pain meds, but now in another total relapse with such painful legs and nerve pain, unable to even pull myself up and down, so my poor husband/carer having to lift me. I prefer to battle on without any strong drugs, as tried them in the past, and the side-effects were worse, just like a zombie. rest, rest and more rest, is the only key to some improvement. I went on Amitriptline once and it was awful coming off. I have Gabapentin in my store, but resisted taking it, though desperate at times to do so. Have so many other problems to contend with, that, one of them just pales almost to insignificance. I do trust you may find something to help you. I have been much like this for some 35 years or more. The only thing I can say that I use frequently over my body is aloe vera gel, as it cools the pain for a little while.

Thanks so much for your response sweetie Rose!! I DO Understand your pain. My pain seems to be very internal...like lightening bolts of pain since the Mayo Clinic said that my nerves are actually shredded....So far I have not found a REAL Med that helps. The narcotics used to help, but in my state they took them away and wont give it anymore for injuries. So, I am left with no help.....I decided to try the amitriptyline one more time in my life....so far I do NOT Feel like a zombie....about 5 days in now....but also, no pain relief....we will see...I am glad you have your aloe to help where you can on occasion sweetie Rose

Hi ChefSally 😊🌿🌸🦋

Welcome to the forum dear.

I’m in Michigan where are you?

I use Gabapentin 2400mg daily it makes my severe nerve damage tolerable most times.

I get the same symptoms you described plus I feel like I’m in boiling oil.

I’ve also used lidocaine/or Aspercreme with lidocaine in addition to Gabapentin.

I’m sooo sorry you are suffering from this too. It really is sooo unbearable at times.

I have osteoarthritis my thumb joints are bone on bone so I don’t post much.

But you sounded so painful that I just had to say best wishes for relief and to take care sweetie.

I’ve been told I have Fibromyalgia, but I don’t believe it. I can’t take Gabapentin. I put on large amounts of weight. 2 stone in 2 months. My GP did a yellow form. I think I have osteoporosis and nerve pain caused by my Diabetes. I’ve had four kidney stone operations in the last two years. Use a laser to smash the stones into very small particles.

Had an operation on my thumb to destroy a bone. Had a plaster cast on for 11 weeks!! I got Sepsis for the second time in two years. This time I fell unconscious and wife called the Ambulance. They worked on me for about 30 minutes. Can’t remember anything. I was put in CCU and woke up with a full face mask on pushing oxygen into me at a great pressure.

My stats were in the low 80’s% but should have been 94+%.. They tried 5 antibiotics before they had one that worked! I’m lucky because people die from Sepsis and I’ve had it twice in just under two years. I won’t go on.
