Just a wee hello and introduction from a rainy Scotland 😊

Hello everyone, I've just joined and wanted to say hi and wish you all good things.

I haven't been formally diagnosed with fibromyalgia but after some tests my GP believes that I am probably a sufferer, and gave me some leaflets! Hmmmm?? :/

I really want to ask if anyone can suggest some good, informative websites that deal with this painful and debilitating condition as I keep hearing a lot of different stuff, some similarities but others conflicting...so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks x

I have also had lots of pain around my sciatic nerve area and wondered if this is linked to Fibromyalgia?

I hope to learn a lot from you all, and maybe bring something useful too, who knows! 😁

Hello! Good to meet a fellow Scot. Weather here not sure what it's doing lol. You will get an official welcome from one of our volunteer admin members as soon as they can, but please remember that they have Fibro too, so they can only get on the forum when they can. You'll get a link to the FMUK site.

I personally read anything and everything I can about Fibro. Yes, there are a lot of conflicting information out there in the ether, it does tend to turn the head to mince. Until someone finds the cause it's all still a mystery. However, we have established that we all have different symptoms, different treatments and different reaction to meds. What works for one may not work for you. It is sadly a trial and error thing. Most of us have other problems too. One of mine is spinal problems so know that sciatic feeling only too well lol.

Look forward to seeing you around 🐸

Hi there

Welcome to our lovely forum :)

I have had Fibromyalgia plus other chronic conditions for over 30 years and I am still confused about certain things!

If you take a look at our mother site you'll find more information there about Fibro fmauk.org

If you could take a look at our Rules and Guidelines that would be perfect. Basically the main rules are no comments or posts on religion and politics. We would also be grateful if you would only post a maximum of one photo/pic per day.

If you wish to lock your post you'll find easy steps on how to do this on the right of your screen in blue under Pinned Posts. That's where you'll also find our Rules and Guidelines.

There are some wonderful people on this forum who will be happy to share their experiences with you.

As Sorebones has said Fibro is tailor made to each person. This means that everything is a case of trial and error as to what works for you.

Personally I read up as much as I can about Fibro and I am still learning from these fab people myself.

If you have any queries about anything forum related or you think I can help you with, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to chatting with you again.

Hi from a fellow Scot, welcome to the forum. It's a very friendly informative site and as advised check out the website x

Hi

As a fellow Scott hello. I'm sorry to hear that you maybe a fellow sufferer too.

The mother page is a good one and the NHS have a page on the web too, that's where I learned of this site etc.

I now live in the south of the UK with my family and am not sure if you still live in Scotland, as treatment and referrals might be different for you. I do hope that you get it diagnosed and get medical help for it soon.

Good luck and best wishes πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Hi there & welcome to you. I'm newish to this as well & have found the site to friendly and full of information. There is so much stuff on the web, you just have to keep searching. A good author is Christine Craggs-Hinton, several good info books on info, lifestyle, treatment & nutrition so very helpful for a quick reference. There is so much info & some contradictory but the fact is nobody really knows and it's just the beginning for a learning curve, keep smiling and do as much as you can that you used to do to keep a sense of self. I have found that physio has been a life saver for me, can't do meds, get too many unwanted side effects, but believe in nutrition and everything natural, essential oils etc. have huge benefits. Look forward to more chats, have a good weekend

I must say one thing to you-If you get other painful areas then you MUST get them checked out not everything is fibro related and you musn,t assume it is. We still get other "problems" with our bodies!! Keep inotuch with us all, best wishes from Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours)
