Is this a common Fibro thing? An ageing thing? Or a combination of both?
I am noticing pain in my left knee when climbing the stairs though it's only been noticeable last few days or maybe last week. I am hoping it will go but just wonder if others have the same

I'm not sure I can help but I also have pain in knees when going up stairs. I had been diagnosed with arthritis in my left knee some years ago but now it's my right knee that's been playing up the most.
I tend to walk up the stairs sideways as it seems to take the pressure off my knee a little and it doesn't make cracking noises when I do this. I have no idea if it's related to the Fribromyalgia or not, since, once I was given the diagnosis, all my other sypmtoms/problems were just 'lumped' into this one diagnosis...even though I had the other problems first.
Maybe have a chat with your doctor and see if they can send you for an x-ray to decide one way or another?
Thanks for replying, Worried4me5. I will try going up the stairs in the way you suggest! I shall see how it goes as it's early days yet but yes I agree. Doctors shouldn't lump all symptoms as just Fibro without further investigation x
My knee pain will come and go....all of a sudden one will go out. Feet are hurting a lot now. It travels. Nothing wrong but Fibro. Hands get numb and tingly and itch but that might involve carpal tunnel which I have too....tests were done but I don't want surgery. Just plain chicken. Age can be a factor I imagine, I'm 75, but have had this since 40 or so. Also have Epstein Barr virus, causing fatigue, dr. found out later thru blood test. A Dr. who seeks answers is a great asset. She thinks swishing in my head is tinnitis since I have other symptoms of that. Sure is annoying and now headaches. Pain meds. work a little so I add OTC to it. So far, liver, kidneys are ok. We fight the best way we can. M.A. in U.S.A.
Thanks grandmama. Yes I have just turned 60 so could be age-related, although the other females in my family, all older than me, including my mum, seem to be better than me, although they do have some issues. I think in the US they are better at testing for things like Epstein Barr virus, they don't routinely test for it here. I have headaches/migraines since puberty. I thought they'd go once I'd gone through the menopause but I have other triggers. But the meds that have really helped for me is Sumitryptan also known as Imigran. I don't know if you have that over there. x
I have pain in both knees inside side. leg muscles ach, doesn't feel like bones just muscles, rheumi have me capiscine cream it is brilliant! Hope the pain eases, have a restful night.
I really feel for you. I have oa in my knees. Where do get your cream from? It sounds very good. Have you got sciatica?
Had to have MRI last Friday cos sciatica has got worse , also if I'm sat, walking or standing for 5 minutes my right bum cheek goes numb, then pain, stings/burning and then back to numb again!! Dr referred me to orthopaedics just over 2 weeks ago. I get my results in the 10th which is very quick!! Hope you start to feel better soon. Sending lots of healing hugs to you. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
I got the cream prescribed by rheumatologist consultant, so my doctor can now prescribe it. Word of warning wash hands thoroughly after use as it contains chilli 😁 it works wonders for me. 😁😁 so does magnesium salt baths. Thanks for the hugs, need them today, just been to doctors and have high bloodpressure 😕 x
Sorry about your high bp, Carol. I did have high bp when I was young, it was because of being on the pill which pushed it too high and had to have hypertensive treatment. Best wishes x
It's called capsaicin it works for me, don't rub in too much just a little too much can be burny I did this when first had the cream!, use just a little, can always rub on a bit more later, it works quite quickly too. Always have it with me and no smell to it 😊 xx
I have pain in my knee when I'm going down the steps. It also happens going up but the first signs of pain is going down the steps. At first I thought it was weird because usually you have pain in your knee when your coming up. I spoke to my rheumatologist about it because both my knee also make that crunching sound. She has decided that it is tendonitis in my knee causing the pain when I go down the steps the ligaments get stretched out and cause pain. Not sure if that helps you but I do hope you feel better.
Thanks Kismetsoul. I have had pain going down stairs/steps in the past. That comes and goes. But not had knee pain going up before, I have had tendonitis in other areas of my body so that makes sense - thank you. if it doesn't clear i will need to see a physio. I think I can self-refer. x
