Hi everyone I am new to this forum and have never been on one but my question is has anyone ever had or heard of pain in your knee with swelling? I went to a knee specialist and she told me it was a FYBRO flare up. She gave me a brace and crutches and told me to stay off of it as much as possible until the flare up settles down. Has anyone else had this problem

Knee pain
I would just like to say welcome to the forum. Unless you live abroad it seems as though you are burning the night oil like me as pain unfortunately has got in the way of rest. I haven't had that particular problem myself but fibro has got some peculiar symptoms and affects each one of us differently.
Have you had a look at our mother site Fibromyalgia Action UK as it has alot of details about symptoms and treatments and medication. I am sure that others will reply to you tomorrow. If you lock your post, the instructions are on the right hand side of your screen you will get far more replies. If you leave your post unlocked anyone can view your post or replies on places like Facebook which you might not want.
Look forward to reading your future posts. Take care.x😉😴x
Hi TheresaF4
Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted you a link below to the NHS Choices on Fibro symptoms. As Fibro is not an inflammatory condition it is difficult to see that your swelling is Fibro related:

I have also pasted you a link to the NHS Choices cache on knee pain, so I sincerely hope that you find this useful:

I would be inclined to discuss this matter with your doctor and ask them what they think it is? And try and ascertain a second opinion on this matter? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi when I had knee pain and swelling they found that it was the cartlidge causing the swelling. It had deteriated and bits off the cartlidge was loose in between the knee and causing the pain and swelling. I had key hole surgery to remove the loose cartlidge (2003) and tho I still get small amounts of pain in the knee, it's much better and no more swelling. They did another MRI on it along with my other MRI scans to check the knee and it's still OK for now. Hope this helps xx
Yes I get problems with swelling on my knees it comes and goes - I rest with my feet up - and it improves 😊
My GP prescribed Ibugel Forte for my knee, and it made a huge difference! Haven't had to put up with serious knee pain since. Give it a go 🐸
Hi good morning from nurse gladys emanuel (open all hours) knees can be osteo or fibro and sometimes rheumatoid .it needs the right specialist to diagnose not always the gp..ask for a good physio to help u.
Hello and welcome to the gang. I am having terrible trouble with my knees. I am waiting for the results of a mir scan.
I am also on crutches with knee support and very strong painkillers.
I also suggest you get a second opinion asI know my knee pain isn't fibro.
