Hi all,
My benefit end date is in December but they’ve asked me to send the renewal application back in January! Why so early and why are they taking so long to reply? Is this normal or are they just picking on me?!!! ☹️
Hi all,

This is normal many people are finding they are getting the forms up to a year in advance. The DWP make the excuse that there is a backlog of claims being processed so by doing this it ensures that no one who is eligible has a break in their benefits. I am cynical and think it is so they can endeavour to get a person off the benefit a year earlier! Good luck hope you retain your benefits.x
I agree with you. Apparently they can withdraw your benefits any time they like so the end date is a bit of a joke. But the earlier you apply the more stressful it is as the whole thing drags on over the year. But the later you apply the quicker it is - or it was in my experience.
My pip ran out in Feb - a tribunal decision. Got my renewal letter 31 Oct. Gave myself a month free of stress & posted a week before Xmas counting on no contact over Xmas & New Year. January was pretty hectic but they got it all done & dusted by the end date. Surprising isn't it?
Hi there, as others have said it seems to be the norm.

Renewals start 12 months before the end date. This allows for the form filling. face to face with the disability assessor, the decision-making and then possibly a Mandatory Reconsideration and Appeal. Unfortunately if the decision goes against people, the benefit changes or stops immediately and the previous end date is over-turned. So I would not chase this up at all - just wait and carry on being paid your benefit for as long as possible.
Wow!! What are the odds of that, I’ve just received a text from them! I swear they are watching this site and reading everyone’s messages 😱
So creepy!!! Lol
Well I hope they are they might realise the stress and upset they cause!!!
They do it 12 months before. I'm waiting for my decision atm.
The same happened to me!!!! They reviewed mine 8 months earlier
I'm now waiting for appeal I've been told 54 week wait for appeal to be heard.
Apparently they CAN review at any point throughout your claim for PIP even before your renew date !!! My appeal was put in at the end of march this year!!!!?
They do it to avoid your PIP running out altogether, they can carry it on this way, I'm sort of glad they did mine a year earlier because it's already been almost 7 months since the review form was sent in, I had an assessment on April 4th where the assessor told porkies, the report didn't get sent to them until the 24th which is when the DWP asked for it, I reckon if my Son hasn't called for a copy of the report it would have been longer, I'm still waiting for the decision letter almost 9 weeks after getting the text and letter to say they had enough info..
You can be reassed up to a year before your benefits end date, but they are slowly moving to 6months. Give the DWP a call for an update you may still have a f2f assessment.
I just asked one of Consultants who knew I voted Brexit to see if they could offer an supporting documentation for the DLA to PIP. I was flabergasted I got the response from him you and in caps YOU SHOULD HAVE VOTED LABOUR! Some health care professional.
