I've been experiencing horrible sick, bone crunching pain in my upper back, feels like right in my spine, makes me feel a bit sick. I don't have it all the time...
Been seeing physio and she says it's because my muscles are so tight in my back they are pulling on it.
Yesterday I did some painting, and last night it started again... I suppose she must be right... But it doesn't feel like muscle pain...
Has anyone any ideas for me please? I have been diagnosed with fibro 2 years ago.
Thank you

healthunlocked.com/fibromya... Morning, has your doctor done any blood tests at all as can tell a lot from this, not sure what age group you are in but I had a bone density scan and found I had osteoporosis in my back and also a slight fracture showed up I didn’t know I had but now know why the pain was coming from that partically place. I do take cod liver oil for joints and find warmth on my back is soothing, if you have a bath at home try Epsom salts and have a soak that does help me relax my muscles, I also use a bio freeze gel which is brill. Pain is horrid and can make us feel sick, I’ve posted a link above if you would like to lock your posts as only our community can see. Take care x
Hi i would say to get a blood test have you been abroad at all it sound the same as I had when I had malaria I thought my spine was going to break it was awful
Not sure if it is the same but does it feel as though someone is constantly pushing it in, like pushing a bruise, or as though you have been leaning against something hard? Xx
Yes pretty much, but it's not there all the time. It gets worse after I do something like painting, which I was doing the other day, which makes me feel my tense muscles are pulling on it. When I get it it just feels bone crunching, yes leaning on something hard... But luckily it's not there all the time... Its a mystery!
If it's what I described it could be allodynia - increased sensitivity to touch. I have suffered with it since around October November time, however my fibro symptoms only started in the September. My spine was really painful and I was under physio, he didn't offer much help, as I was under physio for a hip problem. He had told me to do lower back excercises such as going up and down on a foam roller, pelvic tilts etc. I told him it hurt my spine but he didn't think it was anything and told me to "try" and do my excercises. I couldn't. Anyway, fast forward a few months, the pain that was originally down my spine also became alongside my spine and is now spread to a "circle" between my shoulder blades and mid back, and the muscles alongside my lower spine, aswell as still in my spine and alongside my spine. I can't lie on my back, I can't wear a bra in the house, can't tie up my dressing gown, can't sit back whilst driving, and most days can't sit back against the settee. Sometimes it starts it I am sat back, other days it can start when I wake up, or just come randomly. It does make me feel sick because it's so painful. I haven't found anything that takes it away, however, my doctor has confirmed it is increased sensitivity to touch. It is debilitating xx
No, no treatment that I know of but I am still waiting to see the rheumatologist. It's such a hard feeling to describe isn't it. My GP is very to the point and says dont bother trying to medicate most of my fibro things with painkillers because it won't work and once you get to the top dosage there is nowhere else to go.
