Fibro and CBD

Hi I've been recently diagnosed with Fibro after years of going back and forth to Drs and consultants and have been put on amitriptyline to try and ease the pain. I'm careful how much I read online because it can be so misleading but CBD oil keeps cropping up in my reasearch in either capsules, drops or a vape oil as a helpful relief of some of the symptoms.

Has anyone else tried it? I would love some feedback if you have

Many thanks and gentle hugs

Linda 💜

Yes I’m taking Amitriptyline. Started on 10 mg and now on 20mg. I find it helps with the pain and I sleep better most nights. Get a bit of a dry mouth in the morning but no other side affects. I take mine about 8 then am slept about 10. 😀😀

I’ve been on CBD for a few years now and I’ve spent countless hours researching and learning about CBD and trying out different types.

I find it works really well for me. There are lots of health benefits from taking CBD, which are well documented and safe, though misinformation is widespread on the internet, including Wikipedia. It is not in the interests of the big pharmaceutical companies for people to take it instead of medication!

👉 Please bare in mind, I’m not qualified in anyway, so all I’m doing is letting you know what I’m doing. This post is constantly being updated.

❗️Never take CBD abroad, even to countries where it is legal. It’s not worth the risk.

🤔 The first thing to say is that as with anything, we all tend to react differently, so there is an element of trial and error, to find what works for you. I’m on my 8th or 9th type, from at least 3 companies, so don’t give up too quickly.

⏰ CBD can take three or four weeks to start working, I was lucky and it worked in a few days.

🤐 You need to hold the oil, paste or Aqua forms under your tongue or against the roof of your mouth for 2 - 3 minutes, so it can be absorbed into your blood stream.

🌞 I am currently using Simply CBD’s Aqua Entourage. The entourage effect includes the terpenes that are beneficial in themselves, but added together are more than the sum of the individual components, most reputable CBD will have some terpenoids, this has quite a few. The Aqua, is water based as opposed to oil based, as it’s much stronger, because much more is absorbed. I take Aqua Entourage 400, but it is more expensive than the 200. CBD Brothers do an almost identical product, that is slightly more expensive.

👉There is research to show that terpenoids are more important than the strain of CBD. I can supply the details.

😖CBD has a strong taste, The Aqua, which also contains Turmeric (anti-inflammatory among other benefits, can be added to drinks. This is a big bonus and I add some to a small water bottle, when I go out.

😬During a flare I take CBD 3 times a day, instead of just morning & night.

🤔Interestingly, CBD helps build stronger bones.

👉More is not better with CBD. There is an amount which will work best for you and any extra CBD on top of this will be just wasted. It’s trial and error to find the best dose.

👉When I was using the paste, I put it on small square of chocolate, usually 2 large grains of rice, or a little more on a bad day, roughly equivalent to 2 drops of oil). I use it before getting out of bed in the morning and half an hour before bed.

👉Capsules contain more paste, but because you swallow it, you to wait 2 hours for it to start working. I’ve taken the capsules in the past, but find the paste quicker and more effective.

👉 Vaping CBD can give you a headache, if you take too much.

👉 If you take opioids make sure you take them at a different time of day to the CBD, as they both use the same pain receptor sites, so taking them at the same time is a waste.

👉Avoid taking them at the same time as other meds.

❄️ The oil can get a bit solid in winter and has to be stood in warm water to turn back into an oil.

👉Make sure whatever you buy has:

THC level is 0.2% or less (legal level).

Cold extraction using carbon dioxide.

Organically grown or pesticides free, as hemp takes up pesticides & heavy metals.

State the country it was grown, look for Spain, The Netherlands or U.K.

State the levels and types of terpenoids.

Publish lab results or supply on request. May be at the bottom of the page, in the FAQ (Simply CBD) or in the shop description (like CBD Brothers).

A member of The Cannabis Trades Association U.K. (like Simply CBD) or going through the process of obtaining a license from the MHRA (like CBD Brothers).

Never refer to their product as “medical marijuana,” as there is no such thing in the U.K. currently.

🤔There are companies that sell “white label” products. These are produced by one of the big suppliers, who then label them with the little companies own label.

😊When I buy CBD, I look for an ethical company, that isn’t just out to make quick money, by jumping on the band wagon. CBD Brothers support children and Simply CBD support their dog sanctuary, through sales.

🤔In states in the US where CBD or medical cannabis is legal they have seen a big drop in opioid use.

👍Despite 2 physical injuries that are very painful, including a substantial lumbar vertebrae fracture, that won’t heal and other issues in addition to Fibro, most of the time I manage without any painkillers. I’ve managed come off Pregabalin and Amitriptyline, as well as co-codamol and Oramorph.

😐I find I still need other coping strategies, such as subliminal mp3 recordings with “brain entrainment” from Brain Hackers (99p each from Amazon), the “Pain Relief” and “Deep Sleep” and “Insomnia” help and I keep them on in the background all night. They also do a relaxation one that I find useful. I’m also using a TENS machine and mindfulness too.

🥇

😊I have no connection with Simply CBD or CBD Brothers, other than being a very satisfied customer.

I hope this helps and you find what works for you.

Rosey🙂

I don’t think Amitriptyline will do you well on it’s own are you on any other meds for throughout the day , I take 30mg Amitriptyline but I have been right upto 90mg on a night but was too sleep during the day

I take CBD oil. Without a shadow of a doubt it has helped me with pain and spasms and interestingly I no longer experience the facial tics since taking it. Best to thoroughly research though and source from reputable company. I also discussed with my consultants and neither told me to stop! I found it took 3 weeks before I really started to notice the benefits. I don’t take any other medication apart from 10mg Amitriptyline at night for neuropathic burning pain in legs but I do practice gentle yoga and meditation which helps. I’m not saying my coping mechanisms would suit everyone but it does seem to work for me most of the time😊

Thank uou for your replies. It's early days for me at the moment as Ive only just been officially diagnosed and need to find what works best for me. I'm definately going to give the CBD a go but in vape form as I think its the quickest way to get it into my system.

I Started taking CBD oil sublingually 7 months ago.Its marvelous stuff! Under my G.p's guidance I have reduced my Morphine by 100mg to 60mg.I dont think I'll be able tog et off it. I also take Per Gabilin and Cymbalta and am going to now see my G.P to come down if not off the, totally. Its going to be a long hard porcess.

#Anyway back to CBD.I am a moderator on the FB page CBD USers UK.If you use FB pop over, otherwise I have tons of info on how and where to start as theres an Art to getting CBD intake to work. I now also vape for breakthrough pain and to help sleep.

Here is some general advice you may find helpful;

You must start Low and slow with any CBD oil/paste as you need to kick start your own Endocannabinoid system into working. This is how scientists believe CBD works. Its called Microdosing. You start with one 2-3mg drop of CBD per dose, 3 times a day. You up it by one drop 3 times a day each week until you find what’s called your 'Sweetspot'. I. e what dose works best for you

CBD has whats called a Biphasic effect so that taking too much can enhance your symptoms , such as increased Anxiety or pain, where as a lower dose will work better.

CBD products take time to get into your system and work. Its not like taking a pain tablet which works in a hour or so. So be patient and increase the drops slowly as we’ve advised .

There is no right or wrong dose of CBD oil.. Researchers have actually found that you could, in theory, take up to 200mg of CBD a day, apparently without side effects! Most bottles of CBD oil, I’ve found tell you what dose to take and not to exceed it. This advice isnt usually very accurate so basically, ignore it and Microdose as we’ve suggested.

Sometimes you may experience what's called the Herxheimer effect. (you can Google DR Herxheimer and read more about him and it). Basically its like your body is detoxing and you may feel flu like, or have headaches or nausea. It usually happens if you start on too high a dose but not always. It goes after a few days.

.

If you're on medication then ,apart from consulting with your G.P/Consultant, you must leave 2 hrs between CBD and meds or if you're on any heart meds /Statins/Anticoagulants/Beta Blockers or anything that clashes with grapefruit, then you need to leave 4 hrs. This is because Cytochrome P450 ,which is produced in your liver, is responsible for breaking down both medications and CBD

Once you get onto a higher dose, its often cheaper to buy a stronger CBD oil.

I hope this helps.

BRANDS i'VE USED WHICH HAVE HELPED; sIMPLY cbd, Love CBD Dutch, Cheds Synergie Extracts

Thank you that's really opened my eyes. I've not tried the drops just the vape and then only at night. I started on 300mg and have worked my way up to 1000mg I use it primarily to help me sleep but when I'm on my break from work I'm going to try little puffs during the day to see if I can use it for pain management. I know its trial and error so going to be patient.

I'll have a look at the fb page as well.

Thank you x
