Does CBD oil work for fibro?

KatieERoberts profile image
33 Replies

I have been on several medications for the last 7 years since I was 16 and my fibromyalgia started.

I have now decided I am doing too much damage to a young body and I wanted to try someone that’s less distressing for other organs in my body.

I’ve seen soooo much on how cannabis can help so many problems so I couldn’t deny giving it a go. Although this is the CBD oil and not the cannabis itself.

Currently on lyrica pregabalin I have now reduced my dose and am taking 2 drops of 10% hemp oil. Tastes like crap so I’m hoping it works!

Has anyone else jumped on the CBD band wagon and what are their results?

Also what dose and how were you taking it like drops or vape etc

Katie, I had read that there is alot of variance in the CBD oils efficasy. Some of them are from flax some from hemp, some purely synthetic, some are more complete than others and contain other things besids canabodial. Terpenes are thought to be very important.

I think the closer you can get to nature the better. It is intresting that some of the high CBD low THC strains of cannabis is said to be better than the CBD on it's own and because there is more CBD than THC you don't get high.

I can't attest to this myself but I have read much on it.

There was some talk a day or so ago on government trying to class CBD as a Novel Food and as a Novel Food it would need some sort of approval alowing them to take it off the shelves. It seems to me that the drug companies are getting a little agressive in the lobbying department,, they really don't like their profits threatned.

I’m with you on your assessment that big Pharma are attempting to shut down easy access to CBD. Peter Reynolds from the trade organisation CannaPro, has mounted a legal challenge and has shared the letter from their solicitor to the FSA in a blog posted entitled “CannaPro Seizes the Initiative in the CBD and Novel Foods Debacle.” I’m sure google will find it, if feel free to message me.

Rosiyinthegarden, When you look into it,, big pharma have been responsibile for poisoning our food with chemical fertilisers and distroying traditional farming.

Yesterday it was Antibiotics that were failing,, today it is fungus that they can't control in hospitals. Again it can all be traced to big pharma and their relentless greed.

The same antifungal substances are being liberaly applied to food as are being given on precription for fungal problems. Ultumately our immune systems are being distroyed as a result,, yet people believe all they read as long as it is Peer Reviewed in some filthy rag produced by big pharma using a college as a front. Just look at the array of cleaners on the shelves,, when simple things like a little detergent,, vinegar,, or baking soda and a little reading will do most things,,, but no it's all about the toxic chemicals distroying the immune system,, the constant and repeated assults our neuro and endocrine systems,, and that is before we get to the assult on every cell of the body by our mobile phones and wifi.

People need to get wise and start getting there information form sorces other than Wiki or the People who fund the universities, and dictate the education,,, namely Big Pharma.

Best Wishes, Ray

This stuff is very complicated for me I don’t get what

You are talking about but sounds serious! I live in Greece and at the moment I have easy and good safe access to CBD and some CBd with THC also. Therefore I’m not too worried about lacking access to it

Katie, I am trying to get people to see that it is how they live that dictates their health.

We just accept products on the shelves of supermarkets thinking that they are safe because they are sold and smell nice,,, we never question the potential harm they cause, I am really getting at all the germ killing sprays that are making germs more resistant to being killed. This is causing problems with people as our immune systems are not able to cope with the resistant supperbugs.

Also anti-fungal sprays are being sprayed on the food when it is growing,,, we then buy the food and we eat it,, we are then getting small doses of fungacide every day on fruit and vegtables and this distroying our immune system making us more relyant on more and more drugs.

You’re quite right again Ray. Having had a horrendous 1;10,000 adverse drug reaction last year, I’m now vegetarian, organic where possible or essential and natural products around the house and garden as much as possible. We’ve traded a drop in effectiveness from some products such as natural toothpaste for the improvement in health. In my case, it’s the difference between being able to doing things for myself, or not at all. We were conscious of these things before my reaction, now it’s essential. Think carefully, read the small print, ask questions first, it’s too late afterwards. I’m off most prescription drugs and relying on natural supplements, which are proving to be highly effective in some cases.

If you would like to know more about CBD, I’ve posted a link to my comprehensive Hints and Tips help sheet. I discuss strains, methods, the entourage effect and how it works with our own endocannabolid system, among other things. It’s an automatic opening file, no email, sign up, or sales.

Again I’ve read a lot but until I’ve tried it you just never know do you. I’ve tried it and now I’m finding it not as effective as I had wished.

Also had some very strange side effect in the last few days. Not sure if this is me coming off my old painkillers or if it’s the hemp.

We will soon see

Hope your side effects are easing, it may well be the painkillers, I found I needed to come off my meds much slower than my GP suggested. I have a CBD Hints & Tips help sheet which you might be interested in. It lists the side effects of CBD/hemp and what to do about them. It opens automatically, no email address, sign up or sales pitch, just 3 years of gathering information. bit.ly/CBDHints1

Rosey, I'm the same,, every change I make I make slowly or not at all.

I am always trying to remind people that their are three types of stress,,, Mental,, the only one people know about. Phisical,, like work,,, and Systemic EG,, Chemicals,, Drugs,, Dehydration,, Toxins,, poor diet. They all have the same effect on the body and for the fibromite it is not a good combination for the future.

Like yourself I am now vegaterian and mainly organic and raw,,, no Dairy, Grains, Soy Sweetners, Sugar or processed foods.

I have had so many bad experiances and the longer I have had fibro the more dramatic it seems to get. I had to have throat surgery last year,,, a simple 5 minuite procedure,, I asked if it could be done without a general anesthetic,, the Dr almost had a kitten. Turned out the tissues in my throat were very thickened,, I was bleeding badly during the surgery and it seemed the surgeon was in a bit of a panic. The surgery was a botch,, but the worst bit was the Anesthetic,,, it took me 8 weeks before I got over the worst of it. Coming out of surgery my HR was 140 and rising,, I was put on 20 min observation and it took 12 hrs for it to even start comming down.

I don't trust doctors,,, they are so determind not to be wrong that you can't be right, they think that they know more about how you feel than you do,, they don't listen and are never wrong,, no matter what they do.

Dear Rosey

Thankyou for all that info. According to what you say my cbd spray is ok , but i will look into other aspects such as turmeric , as a blood thinner too , because i shouldnt take naproxin with aspirin, which i have as a blood thinner. I dont take naproxin regularly as i prefer to continue with cbd , but turmeric is good anyway . I take turmeric capsules and use fresh root in cooking but i should look at other ways with it. Thanks again KT

My pleasure KT. I’m all for sharing gathered knowledge and experiences. 😊 I like the idea of finding other ways to use turmeric in cooking as an add on to capsules with added curcumin.

Pukka Herbs do a Turmeric Latte with cardamom, saffron and ginger. They also do Turmeric Gold Tea bags, with turmeric root, green tea, licorice root, cardamom, lemon vana tulsi leaf and lemon. Perhaps you could make your own version? Licorice can increase the effect of blood thinners, though I don’t know how much tea you would need to drink before it has an effect. I’ve not tried the latte, as it’s a new product, but I do like the tea. Rosey

Thanks i do like the idea of the tea. Not so sure about latte. I dont drink coffee like that , but could maybe try adding turmeric to my Amercano type coffee ! Bless you KT

Bemoresquirrel in reply toKTGard

Just had a look at the Turmeric Latte, there isn’t any coffee in it which is confusing, but I presume they call it a latte as you mix it with whatever type of milk you drink. Not sure if I’m brave enough to add it to my coffee, but then again, it might be rather nice! Take care, Rosey 😊

CBD oil has helped me a lot with many symptoms and eased the pain more than any pain killers however it does need doing right and use a good make. It can take weeks to work and the dose has to be built up slowly starting at 1 drop 3x a day and built up each week. There are fb groups that have great advice cbd users uk is very helpful.

I use simply cbd who also have a fb group.

Dear Katie,

Yes i think you are wise to switch to cbd oil. I started last summer on 5% and built up the dose gradually. Last time i went to Holland and Barratt they had new makes in. Apart from Jacob Huuy. I tried the spray , less expensive and better value , mine is lasting for ages.

This one is Holistic Herb. Premium CBD oil unflavoured spray. 30 ml . But as i say i think it will last longer than the drops. Ive had it a while now , a month or so, and its still quite heavy. It says on it , absorbed faster and for longer. All i know is a while after taking it i forget about my pain !

I do hope that helps . You can see other posts about cbd oil on the right. God bless you my dear , i hope you find some relief. Take care of yourself . KT
