Hi all. So after trying various medications, my doc suggested I go onto morphine. Having managed to come off the likes of tramadol, co-codamol and such, I really don't want to go down that path again. A friend suggested cbd oil and vapes. I've been taking the vape which is 500mg during the day and take approx 20 drops of 1200mg oil at night before bed. This has been ongoing since start of August. I don't feel any better for it.
Has anyone else taken cbd and if so can you please advise strength, make etc. I'm just so desperate to get some sort of relief from pain, and sleep would be wonderful too. Many thanks. X

I've tried the vape. It took a slight edge off the pain but used to give me a bad headache. The oil didn't do anything for me whatsoever apart from give me indigestion. I've decided most supplements just don't suit me.Sometimes trying a different brand or taking it in a different form helps. Hope someone comes along who can give you some advice.
Thanks rosewater. It's just I haven't a clue what I'm doing. Never smoked in my life, not even behind the bike sheds. 😄 will try anything to try get some relief from pain and oh to sleep, would be the cherry on top. X
Yes a good night's sleep was what I was hoping for. A relative found it really relieved her pain but also caused stomach problems. That is why I chose the drops as I thought they might be gentler. Oh well unfortunately it sounds as though it is back to the drawing board for both of us.x
Hi, I’ve not tried the vape but do have the gummies which come in various strengths. I have the strongest ones and you are able to take what you need to help with pain. I do find they take the edge off for me, however I do still take other medications alongside. I hope you find something to help you.
Hi there, I have been using cbd vape and drop for about a year now, last week I went to see a pain specialist doctor here in Edinburgh , he told me to stop taking cbd as its was expensive and there was no scientific proof that it actually help chronic pain, my reply to was I think you are correct it doesn't help pain as its always there regardless of medication etc but I do think the cbd helps calm my anxiety after really bad flare up. Maybe it's just psychological but I will continue taking the cbd vape as long as I can afford it, yes it isn't cheap!
Hi Rob. Yes I agree it is expensive to buy, but if it gives even a little relief it's worth it. What strength of oil, vape are you using if you don't mind me asking?
Hi at the moment I'm using disposable rechargeable CBD vape from stonglife it's 2000mg 4500 puffs I get these when a discount code comes up from British CBD company. I have also used other strength normal vape oils from the same company ranging from 2000mg up 8000mg . But I don't feel there is much of different with even the higher dose oil and the higher the dose the more the price goes up so I just stick with mid range vape now. Hope this helps😊
Thanks for that Rob. I'm really out of my depth with this subject. I've been told it's better to buy them online from a reputable company, as the pop up shops in shopping centres etc aren't really that good and will really sell you anything especially if you're not sure. Will try anything to get some relief.
There’s no scientific proof it does anything, it’s unregulated (or at least was last I looked into it), half the time it doesn’t even contain what it says it’s supposed to. Expensive snake oil, in my opinion - I too tried everything, gummies, vape, oil, right up to £100 for a 15ml bottle, absolutely hee-haw difference.
Placebo effect can be incredibly powerful so if you believe it will help, it will probably help.
If you’re reluctant to use strong painkillers, what about a fast acting one that you can take once in a while to get a decent night’s sleep, that way you don’t build a tolerance and therefore withdrawals? I’m very new to fibro, it was something else I tried the cbd for. Took it for over a year and honestly think I’d have been as well with cod liver oil tablets.
You know what saara, I think you could be right. I don't want to be going up and up the doseage especially if I don't feel any benefit. What fast acting pain killers do you suggest. X
Well, I would currently give my right arm for a bottle of Oramorph, I managed to get one once and doctors have basically said nah, we don’t give that any more. I have to start right at the beginning with the fibro meds and honestly at this stage I’m so fed up of pills on top of pills, I already take so many. I’d just like quick, effective, a spoonful when I need it, works within minutes and since you’re not taking it every day, no dependence or tolerance builds up.
If your doctor already offered morphine, they’re probably thinking a slow release one that you take every day which comes with everything you’re trying to avoid. I would ask for the liquid and see what they say. And just make sure you do only take it when really needed so it keeps working without going up doses.
Hi. That is not true doctors do still prescribe it for fibro as they keep giving me bottles I have about 6 here unused as I try not to use it. It is good having it as a back up though sometimes. I would speak to another doctor that is more open to prescribing what helps u xxx
My doctors are just not open to prescribing anything tbh (other than antidepressants, I can have as much of those bloody things as I want) and I’m only just diagnosed with fibro so no doubt will be forced through the pregabalin/duloxetine and exercise options first. I don’t want more daily pills 🙄
My friend has an incurable nerve condition where her spine rubs against a nerve - when the MRI result came in, the doctor said he’s surprised she’s still walking and expected her to be in more pain (it was on a good day - on bad days she can’t move at all) - and what was prescribed? Increase her gabapentin dose to max per day and top up with cocodamol, which is what she’s been taking for years, when it was just ‘back pain’ and not diagnosed. Honestly the only person I’ve known get it in the last few years is a friend with terminal cancer!
Hi purple7265, I just say that CBD is no good at all for me and the more and stronger amount I tried it just gave me bad stomach I lso felt very sick so that's a no no for me , and I did go on morphine patches for 2 years took pain off a little bit after time like 6 month to a year I started feeling unwell, low, lost my appetite, then I started struggling with breathing in my sleep I new it was the morphine doing this anyway I carried on for another year and symptoms was getting worse so I just stopped taking it cold turkey basically and it was the worse 6 month of my life , but I came off got over it and I would never ever have patches again but I do have the liquid and I only have it for when my pain is raging, so I'm in control of what I take and when I will be honest zapain is ok and takes the edge off but with fibromyalgia the pain never ever goes 😢
I'm so sorry you are struggling. CBD did nothing for me. Oramorph does take the edge off my pain but because I have many conditions that cause me pain, it never goes away 👎I have an hour or less sleep per night due to pain. I only have a few hours when I'm exhausted but then I awake in agony 🤷got to keep smiling 😊 I make myself go out even if I don't feel like it because I know I will enjoy it when I get there 😀
I agree with you Lynne. Pushing oneself out the door is a real struggle, but worth every effort. Even though it may lay us up for a couple of days. It's an achievement and lifts the spirits. X
