I’ve got a compliance telephone call tomorrow, Has anyone else had one of these and what happens? I get very anxious about any dealings with the DWP, my ESA assessment made me ill for days. I’m going to try and get an appt with my GP tomorrow because I am becoming increasingly anxious and it’s causing fibro flares. Some days I feel suicidal because I hate this horrid disease and the terrible pain. I just want to lie down and give up but I can’t do that to my family, they’re the only thing keeps me going.

DWP compliance call
Hi Greendeco13,
I can relate to how you are feeling. It is such a horrendous process to have to through.
I have never heard of a compliance telephone call so I cannot help you with that.
I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you the advice you need.
I know it's easier said than done but try not to let it get to you. I'm in the process of changing from DLA to PIP.. had a text today to say they have received my form and already my anxiety has soared again. It is horrible.
Wishing you the best of luck 🍀🍀🍀
Hi Greendeco13 , I have never had one of these but I believe they are just to check you are receiving the right benefits and are randomly generated. If it was anything more serious they would have had to caution you. Just make sure you have all your benefit information to hand plus details of any other income you are in receipt of such as a work pension etc. I know it's easy for me to say but try not to stress too much - maybe it would help if you contacted Janet, the FAMUK Benefit Advisor as she may be able to offer some further advice and reassurance. I have put a link below which will take you to her contact details and also to other links you may find useful. Take care and let us know how you get on. x
I understand that if you are in the ESA Support Group, these are quite common. You will need to have your benefit details, other income details, bank details etc handy so you can answer all of their questions. For more information go to the Benefits and Work website
I have read about this somewhere else, there actually known as Nudge Unit and they target people in support group or long term illness. Its like what I said on here before about the Windrush Generation its aimed at making people feel uncomfortable on benefits. I am afraid we may see a lot more of this.
I think you’re right. I said as much to my husband. I think because I’m in support group they will hound me now until they can either get me in WRAG or I give up benefits. No respect for the years and years I’ve worked and paid many thousands in tax and NI
Dont let them push into anything. I have read about this happening to people as it was people in work related group they first started this with. Then as not enough people in support group or disabled people moving into work they have turned their attention to them to Nudge them. Now they saying more disabled people need to be working also trying to push the idea work can work as a therapy. T hey now pushing that a lot in media lately
Hi
Please don't worry people are randomly picked by computer thay will be checking you personal information and your entitlement to benefits .
You may be entitled to something your not claiming for
Thank you
Hi it was ok, basically I had taken a lump sum out of a small pension I have to do some badly needed home improvements and because it was taxed, HMRC flagged it up to DWP I was working.
Cleared it up pretty quickly and the lady I spoke to was very nice.
Also the anxiety it caused prompted me to do something about it. I spoke to my GP and got some beta blockers and I’ve self referred for therapy. So all in all positive. I’m determined to deal with my anxiety because when I get so stressed it flares up my fibro and I end up in agony.
Glad it went ok for you, I completely understand how these things can cause anxiety as stress definitely affects my fibro symptoms but it often turns out that the apprehension is worse than the event itself. I also take beta-blockers which were initially prescribed for my chronic headaches but they have the side benefit of taking the edge off any anxiety. I have also tried CBT in the past which did help a bit so good luck with your therapy, hope it goes some way in helping you ease your anxiety. Take care. x
