Hello.

Today I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It ha been building up for years now. I am in constant pain and cramp and headaches.

I feel like I'm totally out of my depth I currently work as a housekeeper but it is very pysical and honestly do not know how I will go on doing this with the pain and Tierdness.

I was wondering if anyone can help me in respect to the prospect of job and any benefits help or bus pass or blue badge help or anything I may be entitled to as I am torally in the dark.

I struggle to walk very far and become very exhausted even just talking my son to school in the next street.

I am a single mum and totally overwheled.

Please please help I dont know where to start.

Nicola

Hi nicola2305 , welcome to the forum lovely. I am sorry to hear you are struggling, it can be so hard holding down a job with this condition especially a physical one and then have the responsibility of looking after your son too. However you have come to the right place to get lots of help and advice from our members, many who have been in similar situations and can offer the benefit of their experiences. I am not a benefits expert myself so I wouldn't like to advise you on this but I would suggest you contact the Welfare Officer at your local CAB who hopefully can advise you of your options. Also you may wish to contact the FMAUK Benefits Advisor, all the information you need is in the post below. I have also provided link to the Government Benefits website.

There is also plenty of useful information and links on our main site so you may like to take a look at this:

I notice you haven’t locked your post. You don't have to do this but you are likely to receive more replies if you do as many of our members are not keen on responding to unlocked ones, as they can be accessed by people outside the community. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the link below but if you get stuck please don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Take care and good luck. x

Hi there nicola2305 please feel very welcome to our wonderful support group. I am so sorry you have been diagnosed with Fibro. It can be pretty overwhelming when we first get told. Then we tend to go searching all over the net and reading loads of horror stories which always makes us feel worse of course. I am glad you have found us and I know you will get the support your looking for from our lovely members and hopefully make some new friends along the way :)

Please remember we do not all suffer in the same way it can really differ in large margins between person to person. Some people can still work some can't some are bed bound others only have very mild symptom. But one thing we all understand pain is pain. But please know you are not alone and if any of us can answer any of your questions I am sure we all will be happy to do so.

I see our lovely Ramjets has given you some links to check out at your leisure. I hope they help. If you need help locking this post please just ask any of the admin team we will be happy to do it for you. I hope you can have a relaxing evening and hope to see you around the forum :) xx
