Tonight has been Hallowe’en or to the Pagan world Samhain (pronounced Sowen). I am a Witch. Along with some friends we donned our robes, set the altar and performed our ritual marking the end of the year. This being the end of the growing season and last harvest before winter. We also raise energy to send out healing and we end this event with the silent supper. A simple meal which we share but we set one extra place with food which represents those who have passed over. We will talk about lost loved ones and share stories about them, invite them to join us in spirit and those of us sensitive will relay messages between the worlds. All in all it is a very uplifting Sabbat. We did get a giggle though when at the end some kids came trick or treating and not thinking about what we looked like, we opened the door to them - you should have seen their faces as four fully robed Witches stood there next to a completely set altar, chalice, wand, incense, candles etc. As we moved out to see their costumes they backed away and we nearly had to chase them to force sweets on them!!! Dear me - I’m no doubt the talk of the neighbourhood again!!! I hope everyone has enjoyed the evening in their own way and is as well as can be. Xx

Many Samhain blessings. I too have opened the door dressed in similar fashion. It’s my favourite Sabbat too as it’s my son’s birthday and a time for me to be closer to loved ones that have passed.
Not the kind of Halloween welcome they expected.
Lol they won't forget that☺glad you had a good samhain xx
I always set up a Halloween Grotto; this year it was Death's Wedding, with two fullsized skeletons., and the usual creepy stuff, pumpkins and spiders. I always sit out dressed as a witch with my cauldron full of bags of sweets. The little kids loved it, and one mum bringing her little girl round for the first time, told me that I'd become rather a tradition around the estate, and that I'd scared her the first time she came around years before! But later on when the older ones came around they were too scared to come up because it was 'creepy'. (That's the point, chickenhearts!) The things you have to do to give out candy at Halloween!
