For long time members who remember our troll

We have a friendly and supportive group here that we run like our facebook group (facebook.com/groups/fibroac... with a good set of rules and admin team that help us keep on top of things. We also have lots of lovely members that point out when things need looked at. (You know who you are :) )

Quite a few years ago we had a troll that recreated accounts constantly and we bent over backwards to support initially but their lies and behaviour meant a lifetime ban. They unfortunately do not and did not understand our rules or any limits placed on them and caused stress and extra work for our volunteers. Promises meant nothing unfortunately.

There is more in the post below but just wanted to highlight that they tried to return, were picked up on and were restricted once more. We know they have issues even beyond the behaviour they have shown already but our rules are there for everyone.

For those from the admin team past and present as well as those that keep an eye on things to keep this group running and supporting each other, just let us know if anyone pops up that is not following the rules.

Hi Des, thank you for the update. Naturally having been part of the mod team for a number of years remember this troll only too vividly.

I know the whole admin team especially yourself went above and beyond trying to reach out to this person. We all was on high alert to keep the forum safe. The time not to mention the abuse we received actually ran in to yrs.

I shall definitely keep my eyes open . I would really hate to see that type of person /behaviour back on the forum.

One thing I will just emphasise for the members. If you do think your dealing with a troll or troll like behaviour. Do not reply to them no matter how much you would like to. Please report your concerns to the admin team.

Don't forget a troll love nothing better than to drag you in and cause trouble.

Once again thank you Des and the team .

thanks Des, I for one appreciate everything you and the mods do to keep us safe. We are generally a happy little band of understanding , supportive folk and it’s not pleasant having that undermined. I really try to sit on my hands and move on to the next post if I feel I can’t be positive and supportive.

Thanks again to all admin.

Hi Des & thanks for the update. I lurked for a while and didn't feel like posting much after my issues with the aforementioned person. I'm glad you have been able to deal with it and make it a safe and supportive group again.

I 2nd Dinkie - thanks for all that you and the rest of the mods do x

Bless you Denny for the thanks, I just try to be supportive.

P.S. I’m not a Mod - or a rocker😂😂🤣 sorry let my sense of humour loose there🤣. Many who know me from the old days were subjected to the duo that were Mags and Dinks!

I look at the posts every day for this forum and sometimes comment because I feel safe on this forum. Having fibro which can make you feel vunerable; the last thing you need is somebody not genuinely understanding your problems with this condition - or messing around with your head. Thank you to all the volunteers on our fibro forum:)

Just to add to this that the person concerned (who I am not naming) has not really been as disruptive as they have been in the past and were causing friction rather than what they had done int he past. However, they were showing their colours, their inability to follow rules that others can without issue so it was time for them to go once we were sure that they were our returning troll.

I am saying this as this forum is still a safe and supportive environment and will continue to be so.

Thanks for all that you do. I've quite a few health issues, so I can't always read the posts, so wasn't aware of the troll. Thanks 😊

Thanks so much for the work you and the other admin do to keep us safe.Reading messages from trolls even if you know it's rubbish can really ruin your day and wind up the old pain machine.

It's just sad , that with your own conditions , you have to experience that on our behalf.

So big thanks again , Bee

Hi Des,

Thank you for this post.

I read most posts, relevant anyhow, but some of late have felt a tad too angry / hostile even.

Thank you to ALL the team that make this wonderful platform a place to be, talk, share, appreciate, wonder, laugh, learn, cry, support & above all be safe when feeling vulnerable & unwell.

THANK YOU.
