Not the whole truth ππ
Sorry - like would dispute that....it varies greatly...like MS...not enough is known about it yet to say categorically what will happen to any one person.
Never take away the hope that it might get better....
Hi there pleased to meet you. I am not quite sure I understand when you say she as had it for only 7 years ? Are you refering to yourself or someone else ?
I don't think it is strictly true that fibro gets progressively worse for every one. Many do feel worse over time that is true for a lot of people. But many I know have remained the same and some have actually improved.
As we are all different and suffer in different ways and degrees I guess its only natural we all won't be effected in the same way.
I am sorry if your suffering and your fibro seems to have progressed. Have you been back and updated your GP on how your illness as progressed and is now affecting your quality of life ?
It may be a good idea to book an apointment to talk it over with your doctor. Please take care and keep in touch. This is a great place when looking for support xx

Hi Mo you are correct that we are all different some do get better and unfortunately I am one of them that as each years go by it is driving me crazy. The ladies son mentioned I think it was that his mum as been suffering for 7 years, yes everyone is different I have done all that they mentioned last night, did weight loss surgery diet change, lost 100lbs, exercise etc. I have suffered for over 14 years and as time as gone by it is processesly getting worse, I am very good with pain control but this as taken me for a loop, there are days like today and mostly throughout the week that I can barely walk so hence in bed all day not a happy camper from working in a hospital with a high profile job to nothing but I am taking it all to the lord on prayer. I have fibro, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and some other ailments that comes along with fibro because of what fibro does affects the nerves system.
I also think that as we get older we are obviously not as strong as we used to be and we don't bounce back in the same way, so yes if you have had Fibro a long time, in my case 20 odd years, its inevitable that it will get, or at least feel, worse. Other ailments develop, I've now got Osteoarthritis and Rheumatism and its difficult to say if the Osteo pain is actually the Osteo, or is it the Fibro or is it both.
Hello Nottingham311 , I see this is your first post so would like to welcome you to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, support, understanding and advice. Our mother site fmauk.org has a wealth of information including guides and links.
Some people will agree that fibro can be progressive although this does not happen to everyone. There are varying degrees of symptoms which are different between members. Some can work full time, raise a family and have occasional flares, others can be bed or house bound, unable to do very much at all. Most of us fall somewhere in between.
How long you have had a diagnosis is no forecast of what the future holds. It may have taken years of suffering symptoms before a diagnosis, others have a diagnosis within six months.
Also in the mix is the fact we are getting older. Someone who has been suffering 15 years and feels their fibro has progressed may have arthritis, back pain or autoimmune conditions added to their list, which means even without fibro they would be feeling unwell.
I look forward to seeing you around the forum.
Kay
Welcome to the forum. I am presuming you are referring to last night's TV programme?
I realise now that I was having symptoms of fibro even as a child. With medication, pacing, stretching/physio exercises I do think my fibro pain has improved since I first had it but it has been extremely hard work and involves alot of drugs, etc. I also used my PIP money to pay for private acupuncture.
The fatigue hasn't really improved. I also had to give up a job I adored as if I don't rest enough the flares are terrible. Some other things have got worse eg hip and lower back pain but to be honest that could be down to osteo which I have had for about 20 years now it is so difficult to tell. Of course as we get older our general health seems to get worse overall so that us an added factor. I look forward to your future posts.xπ
I have been sufferring with fibro for 14 years and as time as gone by has gotten worse I have tried all what the dr mentioned but gradually after a month or so things became worse it is true we are all different in our struggle with fibro I wish I could wake up and all pain will be gone. I am a person with high pain tolerance but over the year this pain is wow no words can describe. π’π’
Hi there Nottingham311 all of us can empathise and understand what you are having to cope with {{hug}}. I myself have suffered for 30+plus years and have spent at least the last 15 years reduced to having to use a wheel chair and house bound to an extent I suffer from severe agoraphobia.
Due to intolerance I am unable to even take any pain medication. I am also unable to tolerate much needed BP meds which yesterdays reading taken by the district nurse was 210/100 !! while my story is not unique by any means I do know many many fibro people who are no where as bad as myself after 30 years of suffering. But then there is others who are actually worse.
I guess it's down to the luck of the draw at the hand we get dealt. There seems like there is no rhyme or reason why some should suffer so badly and others less so.
I am really sorry your suffering xx
Mo
So sorry to hear that you are reduced to using a wheelchair wow 30+ years is a long time having fibro... I too go from high BP and sometimes dangerously low...I feel that one day I may have to surcome to using a wheelchair... keepung you and everyone in prayer xx
