Hi Bole, im sorry to hear that you are having a hard time of it latly, if you do get in touch with your gp and tell them what you have just writen about the pain youare in as there are lots of different types of medication that will help, I cant take amyatriptalin either sometime you have to try a few different types of medication before you find the best one for you , it took me a while to get a good combination where the pain was at least bearable, I f it helps write down what you want to say too your gp as i always forget and its once i get home that I think oh i forgot to mention what ever so I write it down in a small not book that i take oyt with me or i use my phone to put notes into remind me of what I am out for , the fibromyalgia mother site has a good booklet that they can send you out it is to help explain fibromyalgia to family and friends as it is difficult to explain and for them to understand when you have a broken leg they can see it but with us as no one else can see the pain we are in and most of us have learned to just put on a brave face and try to get through the day the best we can, but don't suffer in silence try to speek to your doctor,
You will enjoy the site eveyone is very helpful and friendly, things are not all serious we can have a good laugh at times as well
I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I tried to manage without amitryptiline too, but eventually took it, and it does help me with the pain and also sleeping. I hope you will find a medication that helps. Like you, I can't take many paracetamol or cocodamol as they cause constipation.
Hello Bole and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find advice, support, help and understanding. Our mother site fmauk.org has a wealth of information, including guides and links.
Is there a particular reason you refuse amitryptiline? Does it disagree with you? If you are scared of starting it I hope I can reassure you that it is a safe medication which works for many of our fibromites, including myself. As long as you take it several hours before going to bed you will avoid the "groggy" feeling the next day. If your doctor agrees I would start on a low dose, 10mg, and see how you get on with it.
Are you eating plenty of fruit and veg and/or taking other forms of roughage? Some find magnesium citrate taken daily very effective, I am a great advocate of prunes which work for me.
I hope you have an understanding GP who is open minded enough to investigate the options of tests and referrals for you. There are several conditions which can accompany fibro and these really need to be eliminated.
I stopped to take amytriptiline because just half tablet of I0 mg made me like zombie. More depressed, tired and doesn't stop my migraine from neck and shoulders pain. I know is good medication but unfortunately I'm allergic to many medications and strange but true I get the opposite effects. I hope your GP give you the help you need. Good luck.
Hi there Bole here's wishing you a very warm and friendly welcome to our group. I am sure you will find plenty of help and support and hopefully make a few new friends along the way. please feel welcomed.
