Hello number55
This symptom seems to affect many members and there have been a variety of suggestions to alleviate the discomfort, including cooling gel.
If you look to the right of your post to Related posts in blue, (you may need to go to landscape if you are using a phone) you will see the posts and replies of other members which could be helpful to you.
I hope you find some relief very soon.

Hi number55
The burning in my feet [along with numbness, tingling, weakness...] is caused by both diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia. The only thing that has worked for me is Neurontin [gabapentin] As time flies by the dosage has increased over the years [12+] so now I am at the highest dosage allowed per day by the FDA [in the US] I am at 3200 mg. per day and it is evident that the relief I once treasured is slowly disappearing. There really is not anything else I can take, sadly the drug makers don't hold the treatment of nerve pain very high on their list of possible best sellers.
When at rest elevate your feet. Wear comfortable socks and shoes and shoes or slippers should be worn all the time [so sayeth my podiatrist] <<<He doesn't really understand neuropathy very well either. Sometimes I'd rather chew my arm off than put anything on my feet.
I hope you can find a helpful solution here and your feet do not burn or cause you discomfort needlessly. Best of luck
~Sharon
I try to go barefoot when things are bad. I find gently massaging them with a mixture of Pernaton gel and freeze gel seems to ease them slightly as can a soak in lukewarm water and some Epsom salts. If you are lying down putting your getting on a pillow with a nice cool cotton pillowcase can help. Make sure if you wear socks that they are made of cotton tights and synergic socks seem to make mine worse. I am sorry to say that when mine is really bad I just have to grit my teeth and wait for it to ease a bit.x
Hi number55
I suffer badly with this, and like Sharon have peripheral neuropathy as well as fibro.
I've tried lots of things and nothing really takes it away totally, as rose says, try biofreeze Jel, or Vicks vapour rub, i have used Capsaicin cream and its helpful.
Don't stay on your feet for too long at a time, and watch your footwear. Magnesium oil spray is quite a good one especially at night , and don't let your feet get too cold, other than that there's no miracle cure but we are all different and what works for one may not work for others.
Sorry not more helpful, good luck xx
I use magnesium spray on my feet when they burn and if they are still uncomfortable ice cold water in a hot water bottle. Im always bare foot when possible which isn't good for my lymphodeama but I can't stand the heat in my feet sometimes. hugs Joolz.x
Hi number55
I am so truly sorry to read this my friend and *NHS Choices says:
*feeling too hot or too cold – this is because you're not able to regulate your body temperature properly. restless legs syndrome (an overwhelming urge to move your legs) tingling, numbness, prickling or burning sensations in your hands and feet (pins and needles, also known as paraesthesia)1 Mar 2016
Fibromyalgia - Symptoms - NHS Choices
nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyal...
.
And for treatment the **GP Notebooks says:
**treatment
specific measures
depend on the cause
general measures
wearing open and comfortable shoes, particularly those with arch supports, and wearing cotton socks is helpful (1)
symptomatic relief can be brought about by soaking the feet in cold water (not ice cold) for around 15 minutes
avoidance of feet exposure to heat
pharmacological therapies include tricyclic antidepressants and membrane stabilising agents (such as carbamazepine or gabapentin)
.
I genuinely hope that you find this useful, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
