Hi

I have fibromyalgia and find the pain and tiredness get me down the most

II was off my work for about 3 months. The pain in my neck and shoulders was terrible .i couldn't even squeeze my toothpaste as the pain and weaknes in my hands was terrible. I got acupuncture and lots of massages.

I'm back to work now, hopefully I'll manage to not be off with a severe attack again. As I'm worried 'll loose my job

Hello Angela and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, advice, support and understanding. Our mother site fmauk.org has a wealth of information about fibro, including guides and links.

It sounds as though you have had a terrible flare of your symptoms which hopefully will now die down. It is difficult to work when you suffer so badly and I can understand your concern that it will come back and be marked against you at work.

If you find you are being discriminated for taking sick time, do please talk to someone in your union.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Kay

Just remember it's a real accomplishment to keep working Angela. Also to try and pace yourself as much as possible and not take anything else on. Perhaps finding a way to deal with your worries would be good as for me stress is the number one trigger for a flare up. Maybe a weekly five minute meeting with your manager to discuss how things are or at least good communications with them. In my experience most employers are far more reasonable as long as they know what is going on.

Best wishes

Patrick x

Thank you Harleyhare2, stress is my biggest problem for triggering of my fibromyalgia, I also try and hide the fact I am so tired and in a lot of pain. I will try and speak with my bosses.

I've cut down with what I do now and started to realise that I have to be kinder to my body as I have been in denial of my condition.

Bless you for your kind words of wisdom, and I hope your feeling as well as you can
