Hiya i was told at twenty four that I had disc degeneration of the spine I am also b12 folate deficient and pernicious anaemic as well as suffering with fibromyalgia (I'm 44yrs now) I've been really struggling the last two years and not feeling well constant tests operations on both arms and hands after being told that I had trapped nerves in both...I have recently had an mri scan to see if the disc degeneration has got any worse as I've been suffering recently with chronic neck pain that seems to be mostly on the right side ..it's affecting my upper back, shoulder and all down my arm into my right fingers...I'm having so much time off work as I can't do the job anymore I work in a day nursery full time.. I've already had 8wks off and the doctor has given me another 4 wks..I'm struggling with money at the moment..the doctor wants me to stay off work but it's financially killing me as I live on my own with my 18year old. Is there any help I could get at all..?

Hi there

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. Do you take a suplement for your low folate?

I've given you below the link to our own benefits advisor Janet. If you send her an email with your question, I'm pretty sure that she will be able to help you.

You are also welcome to look at our Ken's Helpful Benefit Links & Contacts which is on the top right of your screen under Pinned Posts.

Here's the link to Janet's contact details :

Hiya

I was low in folate so was also put on folic acid.

You're very welcome for the link.

I hope that Janet is able to advise you of something you may be entitled to.

Do you get Working Tax Credits?  I don't know what the current criteria for this is I'm afraid, but perhaps you could look into it?

Wishing you some peace in your life.

Good luck with getting some financial help, I will leave you in Janet's capable hands for advice.  It must be awful trying to struggle on doing the job you do when in constant pain I know my friend had to give up her job some years back in a nursery and became a classroom assistant instead as she found the constant bending down and lifting of the children just too much and her back and neck pain was totally draining her energy. Do let us know how you get on.x

Thank you hung...it is very depressing being in so much pain that you have to keep having time off work..I feel so guilty to especially about work...it is very draining physically and mentally working in a day nursery as you say with the constant bending down to the children lifting them to change their nappies and carrying them...I use to work as a teaching assistant many years ago and yes it was a lot better but the pain is a lot worse now than it's ever been I'm on regular doses of lyrica tablets as well as trying to manage the pain with regular pain killers...thank you I will do...☺️
