Unfortunately many medications cause constipation as a side effect, especially opioids like Tramadol. I have a spinal condition which amongst many other things, has caused me problems with both bowels and bladder elimination. I take 2 senna tablets every night and they keep things moving albeit somewhat sluggishly.
Hiya I know the feeling all too well. Currently i take linseed, you can soak these in water and then drink. Prune juice is meant to be really good as well as eating papaya. I also take lactulose and cosmicol-movicals brother! Psyllium husk is meant to help as well as magnesium citrate (i think thats how its spelt) plus lots of water and orange juice with bit. Also to help things going take a tablespoon of olive oil first thing in the morning. Hope this helps.
I eat prunes every other day the ones in juice This works for me , the other option is tablets from your doctor which work too Yea on there own or good old prunes and custard Just like what some had at school in the sixtys
Hi have had same problem for years taken Senna and prescribed medicine but nothing worked. Then my Reiki practitioner told me to take Spa Tone iron with Apple thought nothing to lose IT WORKS I take two sachets first thing in morning and since started it has worked every day. Take lots of Morphine which causes constipation but no mre problem. Quite expensive but Boots Chemist have it on three for two which helps keep cost down. Thinking of reducing amount used as hoping stomach has no got into a rythm. Good luck. M 😘
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and I sincerely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for my friend. I can see that you have been given some wonderful replies and advice but I will add one. There is a high fibre drink called 'Ispaghula husk' that you could talk to your doctor about as they may give it to you on prescription?
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
Morning zonated. Laxido should work if your diet includes lots of fruit and vegetables. Drink lots throughout the day and have porridge or cereal for breakfast . I take opiates and have regular bowels with just one sachet of Laxido. I'm a vegetarian.

If you like fruit eat plenty of oranges - blackberries - blackcurrants - cranberries - pomegranates - clementines - plums etc as quite a few of these have fibre in them I too suffer from this with taking tramadol and now amytriptalene- I am with a slimming club so like last evening I had 2 oranges - 2 apples - 2 clementines - and grapes instead of a pud and they worked is all I am saying - yes you do have a lot of 💨 - if you like veg increase the amount you eat - having these may make it easier for you instead of taking opening meds as these eventually make the bowel lazy as it doesn't have to put the work in to get rid of the bodies waste. Take care and hope this helps 😘😘😘
I have the same problem as you with Tramadol. I agree with Toolie, meds are fine to use as a one off or to supplement diet if you are really struggling, but are best avoided for long term use as they can eventually make the problem worse as, like Hidden says, they make the bowel lazy.
Best on a long term basis to use dietary methods. Plenty of fruit and veg, bran, linseed or chia seeds, figs, prunes, grapes and anything with lots of fibre. Also best to eat or ingest in its' solid form, not as say juice, as it's the fibre your system needs. Basically whatever works for you. And best to swap from time to time so your system doesn't get to rely on any one particular thing.
My breakfast cereal is a mixture of muesli, all bran, golden linseed or chia seeds (basically same thing) and some fruit.
You can also use licorice but be careful with that one as it is of course full of sugar.
I have 6 or 7 dried sweet prunes. They always work for me and can be taken at any time. Get the stoned Californian ones, they are so delicious I could eat loads!
They are a cheap option and can be eaten every day if necessary, also discreet if you are away for a few days.
I've been prescribed lactulose for my constipation. It does help but I still have to take an extra Dulco-ease tablet sometimes too. Hope you can find some relief (if you'll pardon the expression!). Constipation is horrible to have.
Only just seen your plight- sorry- I have a box of capsules called dulco ease, not laxative but something that softens stools, unless your g.p prescribes you something beware of taking laxatives as they can depleat your vitamin intake and that leads to other problems. Lots of water throughout the day also helps.
Hello Zonated,,,,this is a problem that I too suffer from,,,I take senna everyday and when I feel it necessary use latulose to help the smooth moving of what ever is in there,,,medications are terrible for causing this unspeakable problem,,,and we all try to deal with it and get it sorted out to give us a better quality of life,,,and still it is trying on our minds,,,and getting to a worry state when things take time to 'move'.
I still have tinned fruit in juice,,,and wish they would work better,,,
Good luck,,'clearing the problem',,,ttfn from Karen.
