Finally got a referral

I went to see my doctor today again. I'm sure she thinks I'm a hypochondriac lol. Anyway she finally referred me to a pain clinic. It's a start! I have not only got Fibro but the arthritis is very bad in my back, neck and hips.

Unfortunely, my sick leave hours are insufficient. And I now have asked to apply for long term disability. Thankfully my doctor is supportive. It's going to be a long road. She is telling me it's best I don't work, and it's only going to get worst. Not so encouraging.

Oh dear, that's not so good about work, although great that your doctor is taking you seriously. It does take a bit of time to get your head round it all though.

Take care.

Hi looking4me I'm sure all doctors think all their patients are hypochondriac lol so don't worry about that one. I'm pleased you have got a referal to the pain clinic, some people get a lot of benefit from it & as you say it's a start.

I also have Polymyagia and have very bad back, hips, feet & hands & I'm just going for xray of my pelvis & hips because I'm struggling so much, so I can understand why your GP is advising not to work. If you do to much, it does make it worse. I struggled on for yrs fighting the pain & ;trying to work and it nearly killed me.

It's great you have a good doctor & really is half the battle. Do let us know how it all goes.

Luv Jan x

Yes I am thankful. I'm 44 and she's been my doctor since age 10. She has seen me go through a lot lol. I feel a bit worried if I don't get accepted for long term disability. That would be a disaster for me😢

Yes I am also lucky enough to have a good female doctor who is quite up with Fibro. You will find it very beneficial to get the correct advise for this transition. The site has its own benefits advisor Janet, who would be able to assist you, or alternatively CAB are very good at helping with forms etc.
