Finally! Something that works.

So the GP finally gave in and gave me Tramadol to trial for a week. This was yesterday so early days. I have only taken a few and then only 1 at a time as I didn't want to push my luck. It is working! I feel a whole lot less pain. Yay! On the downside I'm currently getting all over itching (not because of the med, just happening) which is driving me a bit loopy. I can't risk taking cetirizine as it interacts with this med as well as the Nortriptyline I take. I also discovered that Tramadol and Nortriptyline interact with some significant side effects. Should I mention this to the GP? She knows what I take but wondered if she was unaware. Any ideas what helps with the itching that doesn't involve pills? Thanks. :)

Hi,

I have tramadol with some Anti Depressants that shouldn't go together but my GP and the Pharasist says it's ok as long as the correct does are adered to. Tramadol really works for me but I find the extended release version is the best.

If you find an itch cure, please share it with me.

Hugs

Hello Ladytelita,

I am so glad you have found relief from your pain experience. I wonder if you may find this over the counter cream may help your itching;

shop.patient.co.uk/pharmacy...

Please check with the pharmacist if you can use this with the current medication you are taking before use.

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Hi there ladytelita , I'm so pleased you have at long last got to trial the tramadol and that it is helping you. I get itching after some meds, but take an antihistamine, whether or not that's an option for you would be to discuss with your doctor, but I wish you the very best :-)

I cannot take tramadol because it makes me itch so bad I end up almost bleeding from scratching myself. If anyone finds an antidote to the itching please share.

I also take an antihistamine , every morning as I'm allergic to a

lot of everyday things. I don't have too much in the way of itching as a result.

This is something I was not aware might be caused by trams, they are my most effective painkillers so far. You may find you dream more if you manage to sleep though.

I find that I dream more didn't put it down to the tramadol the only problem is I can't tell the difference if it was real or dream lol

I have the same problem and it seem to make my skin really dry so much so that I used a shampoo the other day and my head was on fire so now and using sensitive skin shower gel and E45 cream for the sensitive skin. I find that my dry skin is the source of the itching.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I used to suffer from itching years ago, we'll before I was diagnosed with fibro. At the time they gave cetirizine dihydrichloride for it, which I took 3 times a day. Eventually I managed to come off it as the itching went away spontaneously. Now it seems it's back. It returned before I started the Tramadol so know it's not the cause. If I find a cure I will definitely share!

Jilly, this the first pain killer that has had a positive effect on my daytime pain so I'm naturally thrilled.

Hols15, I also get dry skin, especially after showering so will try using something in future to moisturise.

Emma, I have an excellent pharmacist at the bottom of my hill so will speak to them beforehand. Thanks for the link.

Foggy, I shall speak to my GP very soon to do with this trial so hopefully will clear up any details then.

So happy to have use of this site. You guys are all amazing. :)

hi there,

I was on tramadol 4 a day and I stopped them last week as they used to make me feel spaced out so along with other meds I am on, not just for fibro, my gp has upped my morphine to 50mg at the morning and 50mg at night.

hope you get the itching sorted - it never made me itch.
