Pain clinic was on the phone at lunchtime today a letter was typed up but they don't understand why the GPS. Didn't get it they were going to phone my gp for an email address so they can email it that way they can't say that they didn't get it. So I will be up first thing tomorrow and asking what's happening

Pain clinic update
In this day and age you would think that any important information would be relayed through phone or email to ensure receipt and for speed .
An email would provide an audit trail of contact if that's what's required.
But for whatever reason the medical profession still seem to use the archaic practice of letters.-- why?
I saw my renal specialist two weeks ago yesterday.During that consultation he recommended that I increase one of my meds and stop another,He Said he would write to my gp to advise of the changes.
I was at the surgery yesterday for blood tests so I asked if the letter had been received and when I should start my new meds regime. But it hadn't been received.
So do I ring the renal unit and chase them about the letter? I am sure the surgery won't be doing it as they weren't aware there were to be any changes.
It just seems so out of date and unprofessional that something so important can be dealt with in such an old fashioned manner.
If that letter has gone astray in the post ( which lets face it is a regular occurrence these days) how would the surgery know .
.So it's down to the patient to keep track of their treatment.
Just hoping the pigeon bringing the letter hasn't been shot down!!
I will chase tomorrow.
I can understand your frustration Mrsb07 .
Take care.

Hope it works out for you!
I was dealing with kids, I meant to also say, people that are not in pain or suffering, usually don't understand the urgency that we hope for....
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with this
Mrsb07 , I hope all goes great for you!! Seems they would do it the fastest and easiest way possible. Go figure....Good luck.Peck 🐤.
This sounds all familiar. MRSB07 I would bet if you phonee the hospital Secretary your notes that will be a hugh pile waiting to be typed..you would think today with modern technology electronic mailing could be used and should be used to speed up correspondence to and from medics..during my nursing years when fibro was bad I moved over to helping Secretaries put letters in envelopes and post them..there would be hundreds everyday and looking at dates on letters they were 3 months behind!!
Thank you everyone I was at the doctor's surgery today collecting my daughter's prescription and asked about mine when I was in it was just done this morning and been told to phone tomorrow lunchtime to see if it's ready for collection so at least I know I am getting it the were supposed to call me and let me know but it's obviously too much
