Well,my friends, the dreaded appointment has arrived! Yes,the pip assessment!

My first appointment I had to cancel,as I live in Bristol, and the assessment centre was in Swindon!!!! Phoned them to explain that this was miles away from my home, and was told, well, "well ,that's the way it is". So I asked to speak to someone else about it,and the guy said. Oh, " let me see,we have one in Bristol if that helps" DUH!!

So it,s on Nov 11th. Wish me luck guys, will update you all after I,ve been assessed.

By the way,can anyone tell me, these ATOS people, are they doctors.? I hope so!

No the ATOS people are nurses but not doctors. Good luck with the assessment and watch out for their tricks to catch you out x

Hi there,

As I understand it from people here who have experienced it, sometimes some of the peopled long the assessments from ATOS have been medics......probably not in all cases, but certainly in some.

Hi, I applied 3 times over the last 9 years and the first assessment with ATOS was a joke and my claim was rejected, I tried to tell them about my pain but more interested in getting me to do movements and how much television I watched. You get points for each question they ask. What I did learn by having so many assessments is that you must be honest with these Health professionals, you must explain your worst day with your condition, they don't need to hear about when you might be having a better day cos that is what they will write down and that is what you will be given points on. SO MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM YOUR WORST DAY. I had to travel for about 40 mins to get to my appointment so I was exhausted and in horrible pain by the time I got there and because we are still Human and have dignity the first 2 Assessments I told them what I could do on my better days and both claims got rejected. On the 3rd one I was having a bad day anyway and after the journey and waiting around as they were running abit late, I was genuinely pooped when I had my assess but looking back that was the best time to be seen. Good luck and please let me know how you get on x

Atos do home visits, and the person who came to see me was a nurse practitioner. They are pretty clued up, the lady who assessed me was lovely. As I have said before, they just want to see how you manage day to day. Good luck, I will be looking forward to hearing the outcome, it may take a bit of time before you get a decision

Hi iamatmywitsendnow,

I think it might be a good idea for you to request a home visit and you are entitled to ask for such. You might find some helpful hints on the following website benefitsandwork.co.uk and I agree also with metty that you should base your replies on your worst day experience of Fibro.

Wishing you the very best and do come back to us for more support if you need it 😊😊

NO ATOS are just making a government quota of getting people off the books. One suggested that I have the back operation which is about a 60% success. I asked if it failed would he come around to push me in my wheelchair if the operation failed (Got zero points ) , also got points knocked off for arriving at ATOS, however was also told that if I had not turned up I would have outright failed (catch 22 is ALIVE!!)

Hi 🙋 Pip

I wish you the best of luck, and may I suggest you take someone with you and insist you need them with you at all times, on my first assessment I was asked to do a series of physical tests but due to excruciating pain was unable to do them but the person carrying out the test write in his report that I carried all of them out with no difficulty at all and my claim was denied, I appealed and was put through the same tests by the same person but this time I had my friend with me as witness to the fact I couldn't do them, so please try and take someone with you because they lie A LOT and also get bigger bonuses for those they reject, best wishes

Fluffy 😊
