Sorry I haven't!
Hi Ryanbone - I tried it once but it wasn't right for me. It gets really hot on your skin (or it did on mine) and I found this really uncomfortable. So I didn't persevere with it as I preferred the pain I was already in!
Might be worth you trying it though - it may work for you.
It was the GP who suggested it to me so I assume it's fine with other meds?
Hi Elizabeth,
I was prescribed Capsaicin which is probably akin to what you have been given. I would warn you that I had an extreme reaction to it, it is of course made from the capsicum which gives it a tremendous amount of heat. When prescribing this my GP did warn me to use plastic gloves to apply and not to get any anywhere near my face. Mine was particularly for shoulder and trapezius pain and caused a phenomenal burning and rash, safe to say I didn't continue to use it and it took nearly a week to calm down so I would advise caution, but my GP says it does work for those who can tolerate it!!
Take care and hope it works for you 😀

Hi, yes I've used it (0.75% strength).
Word of caution-read the patient leaflet before applying, don't have a shower before hand -learn by my mistakes!! My legs got so hot I couldn't even feel the ice packs on them!!
• Brilliant cream tho, I'm having great results using it.
• Apply to small'ish area first ie, not all over your body-this will allow you chance to get used to it.
• Only dispense small amounts of cream from the tube (you don't really want to get it all over your hands).
• Ensure you wash your hands throughly after using it-I know this is obvious but it's so easy to get distracted and forget until the next time you rub your eye (or anywhere equally as painful).
• I was advised to keep all my creams in the fridge (even aqueous), then they provide a brill cool down on contact with the skin.
Hope this helps-if I think of anything else I'll let you know.
Good luck with it, Pea 👍 xx
I did try this recently and had a bad reaction, I do have sensitive skin, many use it with no ill effects I believe xx
Hello Ryanbone,
I found it very effective indeed but currently do not use as 3 year old who needs cuddles and wouldn't want it to rub onto her!
Here a post where we talk about all different creams which might be of interest;

I've not used it but I know this about it:
Capsaicin is the stuff in peppers that make you feel hot. i.e. it's an irritant. This may be useful. It's prescribed as an anti-rheumatic. Our NHS website is strangely quiet on the subject but I found this on your side of the pond.

Hope it helps.
Thankyou all so much for your advice, I will look at the link's and see what's what

Hi I use it. I got prescribed it for my Rheumatoid Disease as I'm on high dose of Naproxen so was told I couldn't use voltarol or other brufen type creams. Yes it does burn on first application but I found if you use it regularly it subsides. I find it helps me a lot. I have fibro, Rd and Osteoarthritis .
But Yes, make sure you wash your hands after applying!
Hi Elizabeth
I was precribed this by the Pain Clinic to try and help the burning, shooting pains. I thought at the time it was a bit strange to put something on my skin that was made from red hot peppers when you were trying to stop a pain that was burning in nature but I went with the flow. Unfortunately, my skin is so sensistive to the touch I felt as though I was permanently on fire and even though my OH tried to be very gentle when he rubbed it in (it is in the area of my back I can't reach) I could have screamed with the pain. It did say on the leaflet that the skin can get used to it but after three weeks of this with no sign of the burning sensation getting any better and the OH saying that my skin looked very red I decided to stop it. I think it might be quite good around a joint area where perhaps the skin is tougher.
Like Foggy says you have to be really careful with it and I used those disposable altex gloves as however you wash your hands afterwards some of it still seems to linger. The one day I had no gloves and washed my hands I thought thoroughly and then you guessed it rubbed my eye and I thought I was in real trouble.
As we have often said before what suits one doesn't suit another so everything is worth at least one try. Hope if you decide to try it it helps.x
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I have not used this myself but I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck if you decide to give it a go.
All my hopes and dreams for you

The pain clinic prescribed this for me a few years ago and I found it helped but my other half got irritation from it while snuggling up behind me so I stopped using it. It works for some and not others so maybe you should try it and see if it helps you. Take care. Julia x
I have used it on my neck shoulders and above knees and have found it brilliant. A pea sized piece rubbed well into the area avoiding cuts and personal bits. Use latex glove or wash hands several times thoroughly. Five minutes of tingly feeling and heat then calms down and gives relief. I don't understand why it's not used more as natural product, but your comments show why.. But I personally think it's great!
