Ibs, medication, stress, diet repeat.... Round and round
I cannot recall when i was more careful about what i eat. But still its never been more tempermental mixing in gabapentin, oramorph, citalopram.... Yadeyadeyade. I can be horrendously constipated for a week and then go to as i've had a dose of the bowel clearing medicine for endoscopies the next day. My mother seems to imply i am sneeking things into my diet while she isnt looking, coz thats how child like i am and determined to wreck my health i truely am.
Please come up with a soloution to IBS! I'll be your servant for life!! A life without constantly observing my eating habits and adjusting it with movicol and mebeverine.
One of the numerous reasons i do not settle easy on a night x

I am so sorry to read that, and I was wondering if you have any medication for your IBS? There are quite a few out there. it may be worth discussing this with your GP?
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck as this must be very unpleasant for you.
Have you considered giving up wheat? Just eliminate it for 2 months and see how it works out for you. I used to have really bad reactions from bran - since I don't use bran anymore I am so much better. I have had fibro for 30 odd years - it sucks. Do you take magnesium? It is supposed to relax many aspects of the body. Pro-biotics also is constantly needed for the stomach - bowels to behave. Our stomach is our second brain - the brain has the same bacteria as the stomach. It is vital to have a balance between the bad bacteria and the good bacteria. I regularly take pro-biotics and must say I kind of have forgotten that I used to have IBS. Good Luck and blessings.
I am really sorry to read that and it genuinely cannot be easy for you with this issue. I would definitely discuss this with your GP and tell them how much of a problem it really is.
Good luck
Ken
Hi SallyE15
I have suffered with IBS for 35yrs and had numerous medications over the years but little success. Since I,ve been taking Duloxetine instead of Amitriptiline and before that Citlopram, my symptoms have really improved. I wouldn't say I'm cured but my bowel habits are certainly better controlled. I was on 60mg but have dropped to 30mg and IBS still manageable. Perhaps a discussion with your gp about mood meds might help as I found myself more 'relaxed' with Duloxetine and believe it's helped my gut too. Hope it's something you might find helpful. Wish you good luck.x
I agree with the advice already given and would add that I find taking peppermint oil capsules before meals helps during flare ups and drinking peppermint tea.
Sally, (()) to you. I am the same and having flare at moment but our weather is so wet at moment i am dragging myself around! I keep my fruit intake up and eat porridge, prunes and apricots with flax seed in the morning all mixed up with soya milk (put off dairy years ago but still dodgy stomach) Keep your chin up and hears hoping you get some sort of relief soon. x Jean
I downloaded a book on exercise and diet for fibro and they recommend, artichokes as being very good to eat, I have not tried them but will give them a go, also chicken, fish, leafy greens and boiled eggs. I also take magnesium marine and have been for the last 6 weeks, don't want to put an omen on it but I really do think they are working, I feel I have lots more energy and not so painful, I have also been doing exercises at the gym, taking it slowly and swimming, fingers crossed it will help for a long time as I am also sleeping a lot better now too which really helps in my every day life!!
I suggest asking the doc for "Laxido". It is gentle and works magic for constipation. You can take it every day.
I am trialling mebeverine at the moment but its not working. I think I am intolerant to lots of things, beans are the worst! I shall be seeing a dietician to work it out.
Have a look into the FODMAP diet, the NHS recommends it.
It is one of many symptoms of FM and I am currently in bed still due to a night of pain and then vomiting at 530 am with a poorly tummy .Adds to my ever increasing list of problems.Need a full bowel checkup at hospital again ...horrible procedure, but at least I get to feel empty for a few days lol.Relief for a while.I am also going waiting for an appointment to see a dietician.Wishing you future comfort. Its surprising how ill bowel problems can make us feel.x
I'm the same! I've had IBS for over 40 years but it's at its worse now, plus an inflamed stomach lining. The FODMAP diet does help some people, but you may have already tried that, if you haven't I suggest you try it.
Wishing you the best of luck, hope you get some relief soon.
