Hiya,

I would suggest that you make a list of all your symptoms to take with you because with the fibrofog I often forget many things!

Also you may find it helpful to take a family member or friend with you for support or to help you remember things you may forget.

The rheumatologist may do the "tender points" test, where they press on certain parts of your body and ask if you feel pain in these positions. He may also order blood tests to rule out other conditions.

Please do not expect too much from a first appointment because they only have a limited time.

If you don't understand anything he says don't be afraid to ask him to repeat or explain more clearly.

Make sure that when you leave you know what his treatment plan for you will be.

Good luck... let us know how you get on xx

Hi Zita,

I think everything phlebo has said is accurate, the one thing you may want to ask though is whether there is a pain management course that he could refer you to.

As phlebo mentioned I think he will do a range of physical tests, particularly the "tender" or "trigger" points test, which will give him a pretty good idea about fibro being the correct diagnosis. Don't be afraid to let him know when he's doing the test whether or not it does hurt, though normally it will be an involuntary response.

I wish you well with your appointment, do let us know how you get on, and I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way 😀

Foggy x
