Hi guys it's been a while and I hope the rest have been well since then. Just heard from the benefits ppl they have awarded me both activity and mobility. What help can I get with this because seriously I want to get out and about but I need a wheelchair as I get tired from walking. Like to spend a full day out and use a wheelchair when needed.

Iwell done you, great result. You have to have refderral from OT or GP to get action from NHS wheelchair services but they are often awfully slooooow, im afraid the easy answer is to use the mobility portion of your PIP award to fund a wheelchair purchase, i would suggest you look for strong but light weight, you should be able to find a suitable one from £80 -£120 and delivery is usually quick from UK retailers. Good Luck.

Pleased you got PIP, the money does help! Please also make sure that if you have someone caring for you who does't earn over 105 per week (they also don't have to live with you) that they apply for carer's allowance which can be back dated to when you started you PIP claim. My husband and I both got a nice lump of money when his PIP was awarded as it took so long to get assessed.

Thanks for that information just hope my husband can get the caring allowance as he works but cares for me in the late afternoon

Hi there

I would suggest that you use your mobility part of your award to help with the purchase of a wheelchair.

This is what PIP (Personal Independence Payments) is all about. Allowing you to purchase the things you need to keep you mobile.

I am so glad you have been awarded your claim.

Do you have any issues with me locking your post for you?
