How do i stop being discharged from hospital...

I'm always being told there is nothing wrong or nothing more can be done. I am not prescribed pain meds, because i am uber sensitive to most opiods i have had trigger point injections September this year, also at the same time i had pain management reassessment. .. i got confused and didnt go, so i got discharged. I had the follow up fod the tpi, and I thought I was going to be discharged, but was told that I have 6months to ask for another tpi. I am so fed up with our system. My gp doesn't know what to do next.

The treatment for chronic pain is different at every gp team surgery.

Go and Talk toyour GP and get put forward again they cannot stop you from applying I think that would be the best thing. You were obviously to poorley to attend well get your GP to write accordingly and then hopefully the pain consultant will review your case !

Take heart

Hi Millypeede

I am so sorry to read this and as ginsing says, see your GP again and ask? You have nothing to lose? I want to wish you all the best of luck with this, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your pain problems.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi MillyPeede,

It's definitely worth attending the Pain Management Reassessment so do try to get your GP to re-refer you if you can't do it yourself. If you have sensitivity to most pain meds as alot of Fibro sufferers do, it's definitely worth looking at other ways to manage our aches and pains.

All the very best.

You have my sympathy. Do you have anyone you can confide in and could help or go with you? a patients friend's second opinion can be really helpful (don't share sensitive personal information willy nilly). There's a standard procedure to discharge if you don't arrive. They have to assume you no longer want the attention/appointment. I'm sure you understand how busy the NHS is. There's also a system for renewing a referral and for saying "I didn't come because. . . ., can we have another go?" Go to GP and explain you confusion, it's not that unusual and you shouldn't be discriminated against because of it.

I do not know where you live but Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London has a specialist Fibromyalgia clinic.

If you live too far from London then search the internet for Hospitals around your area that may offer the same. They usually give you the chance to sort out all of the issues relating to Fibromyalgia instead of one clinic for pain over here, and one for rheumatology over there and of course always on different days.

GP's are so overstretched nowadays that it helps you and them if you have some ideas about what you need when you visit. Visits to the hospital should be fairly infrequent as they will advise your GP on the next course of action/treatment.

Good Luck!
