Hi Ruth_Iderry

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to what you are going through? Amitriptyline is quite a common medication for Fibro, as it works as an neural inhibitor, therefore easing pain. I have pasted you a link about this drug below:

nhs.uk/medicine-guides/page...

I have also pasted you a link to our mother site, FibroAction's pages on Fibro Treatments:

I personally have a Amitriptyline derivative called Nortriptyline, as I cannot get on with the sedative effect of Amitriptyline. However, from reading your post the sedative clearly has no effect on you?

I want to wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Ruth,

I'm on same meds for pain. The dosage is quite low & to be honest I don't think doing much at all but I am not keen to up the dosage.

I do know when my pill is due though as the vibrating inner body feeling starts up. Seems to help a little on pain for first few hours but not beyond.

Doesn't mean won't work well for you hun.

Wish you luck with them xx

I can't take Amytriptilline; It gives me nightmares, so I am on Nortryptilline. It helps, but doesn't leave me flat in the morning.

I am on 50mgs amit and really notice the difference with my sleep patterns if I don't take it. Taking it earlier in the evening helps prevent that 'hangover', 'zombie' feeling for me.

I take Amitriptyline too, at first I slept like a log, less so now I think I'm getting used to it a few months in but the sleep I do get is better than it was. My brain is now 5 miles in front of me and my body is curled up crying somewhere, left behind! I'm a sensitive soul so can only take 10mg a day.

Take care and don't let anyone force you into exercise you know you cannot do xx

I only take 10mg too, it does help me sleep for a couple of hours. X
