So sorry that you are suffering from a flair, Im sorry but there is no way of knowing how long that they will last. it will come to an end. Have you visited your doctor to see if he can help?. All you can do in the meantime is rest and look after yourself.

Unfortunately, Mayrose is right, it is a how long is a piece of string analysis. These flares are strange things and some might only last a day or two or like you are finding they can last weeks. Can you identify anything that has started this one up so you can avoid that scenario in the future?. I know if I have overdone things several days running I am probably going to be in trouble. Rest and sometimes an increase in meds helps (with your docs permission of course). Try to be kind to yourself and if you need sleep just stay in bed, or if you are not sleeping well at night it is okay to go and lie down for a couple of hours in the day just get rest whenever you can as if you are oveertired it won't help. Sometimes having warm baths can help and trying to do some sort of relaxation exercise and something that you enjoy that can take your mind off the pain. Hope it ends soon, big hugsx

So sorry sweetheart!!! It's really ant one's guess, as fibro has a mind of it's own. Have you been to a pain clinic? It really helps. xxx Mitzi

Morning , I have been under pain clinic for a few months now , the consultant has said iam on the right combination , lycria , nortriptyline , prozac . Its just that the flares are worse now and lasting longer .

the cfs and m.e clininic are lovely but iam under cbt clinic and pain clinic so that would have been were they were going to send me onto , so not much more they can do either .

my doctor examined my muscles yesterday to check nothing else was going on , he has given me diazapan for one week , 2mg 3x daily , hopefully will help with the jerking , havent had one yet , as my m.e is bad enough I expect the diazapan to knock me aswell.

hugs to everyone x

Hello Broadband,

You've had a lot of answers and as many say it is 'how long is a piece of string' as to how long a flare will last. Please see this article from our Expert Patient Range - Listening to your body as it talks about flares;

fibroaction.org/Articles/Be...

Plus you may find the following post of interest, also written by our founder & chair Lindsey Middlemiss;

healthunlocked.com/fibroact...

I also get jerks like sleep starts but they are not before I fall asleep but always happen when I am experiencing severe fatigue.

To be on the safe side I would consider mentioning any new symptoms with your GP as it may be that s/he may decide to investigate as they are your Health Professional who can access your medical history & can examine you. As we say we are not Doctors so please check with your GP, it could be very likely it is the same as other Fibromites but it is always best to check

Hope the links help

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Hi everyone,

Well what can I say that everyone hasn't said, I started with a flare-up 6wks ago, Dr came out upt my 2ml diazapam to 3 day and increased my methocarbamole 750mg tabs i usually take 2tabs twice a day now taking 2 tabs 4 times a day they are helping a lot but mainly there just making me sleep without loads of jerks and jumping. Yesterday was the only day I stayed in bed all day, and I then felt really guilty and crying a lot dont know why, my dear hubby has been fantastic checking if i need anything, in the end i Got fed up with him keep asking, and shouted at him to leave me alone. Then I ended up crying again and saying I was sorry I shouted but he was great about it as per usual. I love that man to bits, why he's stuck it out for 30 yrs of me having this thing I dont know.

Feather hugs to all
