But I've just taken the decision to move home. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to remain in a house with stairs!! I've resisted moving for so long, you know the excuses - brought my daughter up here, so many memories etc, but I think now is the time to move. I've applied for an apartment in a new build currently going up near me. I've made the first step this morning by contacting the officer in charge of allocations and it's really strange, but I don't have any more negative feelings about moving. I think of what my late husband would say, and he'd probably suggest that we should move, if he was still here.
The one thing I'm not looking forward to is packing up everything I've amassed in the last 28 years. Mind you, I'm looking at it as an opportunity to get rid of a lot of junk!!!!!
Have a good day folks!!!! XXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi sue32 congratulations on making the first steps to move and i do hope you get allocated one of the apartments I understand how hard it must have been to make that decision to move but maybe you have no negativity because your hubbies looking down on you and egging you on because sometime we all have to move on as for the junk i throw things out an hubby keeps going to car booty and buying more lol Hope you have a nice dayxx
Hi sue32, good for you. I always said that I couldn't move out of my house because if all the memories, then my mum said to me that no matter where I lived my memories would go with me, that special moments stay in your heart not the walls of your house. I am in the middle of getting my house sold and moving on. Like you I am using it as an excuse to get rid of the junk I have accumulated, with the exception of special things my girls made me. Happy moving
Go for it!!!! We did about 18 months ago. We moved to a smaller bungalow when I was diagnosed with Lupus - it's bad enough having fibro without that as well. It's the best thing we did. Start getting rid of stuff you don't need early so you don't throw yourself into a flair. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
Aye, good idea....never thought about a flare!! XX
Hi sue
Fantastic and good for you to have the courage to make the change.
My hubby and mother keep going on at me about moving somewhere with no stairs but I'm not going down without a bit more fight For me I feel that if I moved somewhere without stairs I'd be giving up my fight to get walking properly again but in reality I'm probably in denial and should just move.
I wish I had your strength Sue to make that change and improve things for myself.................. stubborness runs in my family apparently It is fab to read about your positive decision and am sending some fluffies to help you while you pack things up
I think that is wonderful and I genuinely want to wish you all the best of luck with your move. My wife and I have decided it is time to move and we are looking at having a bungalow this year. I think that we will need a skip with all the stuff that needs throwing away!
Hi Sue, I hope you get the apartment you want. Like you I still live in the house where my daughter grew up, well once we left army accommodation that is. I would find it hard to move but I know there will be a time when I will have to. Good luck with the packing, Linda x
Wonderful decision. Start throwing things out now as it takes much more time than you think it will. We are having to move because of our health and have been in the place 35 years and are hoarders to boot. I never kn ew we had so many things. After having "men with a van" in, numerous trips to the tip on our better days (we know how to have a good day out) and table tops we still have massive boxes of stuff we haven't yet sorted through. I think your husband would be proud of you and I do hope you get the apartment you want. Remember your memories are always with you as they are inside your head rather than material so if you decided to move to the moon they would still be there. Do you think we could get a group discount if we used the same removal firm? Good luck to everyone with their searches for new accommodation. Big hugsxx
It's a big job, but it will be worth it. I just moved a year ago and am glad to be back home Best of luck and wish you many good days to get it done. xxx Mitzi
Thank you all for your lovely, kind wishes. It's strange but I'm actually excited in some ways. The last few days - and the stairs - have shown me that it's better that I move now, rather than when I HAVE to. I might not get the place I want then. And you're all completely correct, of course, my memories are within my soul and my heart and will go wherever I go. I'm sure Barry ( hubby) will be with me telling me what to do!!! I'll keep you updated with how things are progressing! Thanks again, my dear fibro mates!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
