I have CFS on my notes and chronic pain syndrome that was diagnosed at the same time as the fibromyalgia in1994. I raised my concern about fibro not being on my notes and my GP said it doesn't really matter and that chronic pain syndrome is the same thing. I am not happy and do not know what to do about it so would be happy if anyone could advise me.

Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1984 and earlier in 1988 both rheumatologists and I though this info was in my medical notes but it is not.
Hello Elaine ,I think that I would try again to get a written diagnosis,I was told by a CAPITA Assessor that it can make a big difference when claiming benefits.. Is there another doctor at your practice that you can see? Maybe if you explain to them why you need it they may be more helpful.
Good luck and hugs sue xx
Thank you Sue and lots of hugs back.xx
Hi ElaineB53
I am so sorry to read that you have been put in this untenable position but mayrose 54 has given you some excellent advice. I would also suggest if you could possibly contact your Rheumatologist and see if you can get a letter of clarification from them, as you could use this if you want to try and claim disability benefits?
All my hopes and dreams for you

Many thanks Ken. The last time I saw the rheumatologist was in 1994, can not even remember his name but have asked for the medical records, may also try to see the same rheumatologist for a clarification. Would like to say this is such a good community to belong to and have received so much useful information. Many thanks again, Elaine x
That is a really good idea asking for a copy of the medical records, as I think it really helps to go through everything just to make sure that you haven't missed anything. I made that mistake recently. I went to see a physio and forgot that I was diagnosed with arthritis in my neck a few years ago! Luckily she found it in my records!

Many people think they are the same condition. Most people with CFS have pain and people with Fibro are tired. There is also ME and yuppy flu. Since becoming ill in 1986 I have had all of the above labels. Good idea to ask for your notes, good luck.
Thank you Betty.x
Thank you Ken.x
I agree go back to who diagnosed you they should have records and get copies. My home folder has copies of all appointment letters, hossy app and diagnosis letters. I was lucky I had orthapedic app to get my diagnosis as I have osteoarthritis in fingers and other main joints. Rheumy was so good and sympthatic so if you can get a GP to send you for another app to get that diagnosis then that would be ideal. Good luck x
Thank you.
Silly question! Why are rheumatologist responsible for patients with fibromyalgia?
Thank you hamble! That really answers my question.
