Hi honey25

I am so sorry to hear of your current dilemma. I have the opposite problem whereby my legs ease if I keep them elevated. I'm not really sure what to suggest as this makes your pain worse. However, I wanted to wish you all the best in finding a solution to this.

Take care

I personally think the elevation of your legs is the best idea. I have osteoarthritis too and the elevation is the best way to sit. May be it takes a while to get used to it.

I hope you find a comfy way of sitting.

take care

Hi honey, I agree with the others that it's actually better to have your feet up When you're sitting, Maybe your legs are more painful for another reason at the moment like cold weather or something. Take care

Hello Honey25,

I cannot really comment about your reclining chair as to whether this is causing any issues with increased pain or not. However, I would maybe consider talking to your GP about it and maybe have a blood test. You may have a low B12 or Vitamin D that is causing an increase in symptoms. If the GP cannot find any other reason (like any above) maybe it is positional problem in your new recliners ! Who's to say or it may be just coincidence!

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Hi, I agree that legs should be elevated but I have the same problem when my legs are straight Honey. I need to slightly bend my knees to get comfy, so try a pillow under your knees, (I have a bolster pillow). I discovered this when I was in hospital and had one of those amazing beds that I could change the position to suit me. I hope this helps, it's worth a try. X.

I don't know if this will make sense but when elevate my legs they are worse from when I sit down but this is because they are rested that may be the case. Which means your probably struggling and doing a little too much on them and maybe need to re- pace things like sit down in-between things or during things I recently had an assessment from social services and they have given me a chair for in the kitchen they are wonderful and a kitchen mate for doing my veg on must confess I don't need that very much at the moment but my hands get stiff and painful so can be useful for raw veg tins etc. xx

Hi, same as the rest I can only sit with my legs up in a recliner though I still can't straighten them, I have to bend at the knees. Think maybe just try different positions till you can get yourself comfortable. I recently bought a heated fleece throw which is a very good size and I lay it on the recliner first turn it on and relax (well try to most days) its fantastic helping my pains at the same time. Definitely recommend. Good luck, I know its not easy.
