Doc has changed my meds

Hi everyone on this sunny afternoon

Just seen my Gp and she has changed my meds from amitriptyline to gabapentin, has anyone had bad side effects with it and which do you guys & girls think is best xxx

Hi I take 3 300mg of gabapentin 3times aday and it has defiantly helped ,but also take cocodamole when needed still got pain but not so bad. I take mirtazapine but that is for depression and sleep aid more depression but am changing to sertraline for depression

The difference I found ,was I didn't sleep-well during change , on the positive no more dry mouth that I got with amitriptyline . Initially I thought gabapentin was rubbish , but because the dose you have has to be gradually increased, once I got to a therapeutic dose for me that is 2400mg per day , I got good relief until recently ( 1year on) , and not sure if body just got used to dose or my condition changed as none of my meds working for me at present awaiting to see pain nurse specialist on return from her holiday as my gp is not sure what the next step up should be .

I am still very new to all this & to be honest the head is a shed at the moment, learning to live with it & finding things out, so once again thank you both for your replies xxxx

i take both 600mg of gabapentin three times a day and 30mg of amitripteline (sorry about the spelling) twice a day and i get a wee bit pain relief for about an hour after taking them but i am a space cadet and cant do much due a review at the dr next week .
