I think chocolate is the last thing I would ever give up it always gives us the feel good factor and a tiny high.

I am surprised at the cereal but we are all different I know when I dont eat wheat my tummy is very much smaller than when I do. I gave up wheat in cereal, cake bread the lot. I think you had better have another chat with your consultant.

Good luck take care

chocolate does give me an energy boost I went out twice shopping and couldn't buy any cadburys fudge.i only stopped the shredded wheat as others suggested -am not sure that is a contributing factor to swollen stomach.am going back to dr on wed.have told them all I don't eat cakes biscuits puddings and snacks so cant cut them out of diet.by consultant-do you mean rheumy?he is the only one ive seen and he said I needed to lose weight as gained 11 kgs in 7 years but failed to listen tome when I said I don't eat the above and weight gain is all abdominal.will say this again when i see my dr.

How weird we are all different chocolate makes me bloat almost just by looking... I occasionally give in and my stomach comes out ... But some days I bloat up when I haven't eaten much ... I just pretty much an resigned to it now .... I look on a thin day as a bonus and on a bloated day out come the elasticated waists... Today is a thin day :)... I know mine can't be anything serious as I don't have many organs left in the abdomen area.. That I can actually function without...

I have never had a thin day and wear elasticated waists all the time but in last couple of weeks they don't fit around my middle.

Just a quick reply.....sometimes symptoms get worse before getting better when withdrawing from them. Try some probiotics for a week and see if that helps....boringly I am allergic to chocolate and so have resorted to Carob Coated Raisons as a substitute :D

If its the chocolate you crave I would suggest maybe dairy is your trigger. Sensitivities get worse before they get better as your body craves the toxin and tries to get you to eat it again. Sugar is also an issue. You may have a Candida problem. That feeds on sugars so will also make you crave it.

Chocolate might seem like a feel good thing....lol I think that's called addiction lol

I only have to have one dairy hit and my belly swells. I also keep clear of wheat cereals and pasta. Its not difficult to avoid using rice or oat cereal x...but of course the milk has to be at least lacto free. The sweetened soya is good on porridge x

I can't do the soya or wheat or dairy so I use cocnut milk. It's lovely, best I have found.

I love the coconut milk as well....even on cereals or just to drink.....it's really digestable

Love coconut milk, or hemp milk - dairy is a major trigger, soya is a no no as flares my lupus (soya contains oestrogen... my lupus is oestrogen sensitive & with fibro ., lupus, APS,Sjogrens & raynauds I have enough to deal with!!!)

But I have discovered pure cacao nibs - just... WOW!!! plus as theres no dairy in them, happy tummy!

Makes a fab ice cream with frozen banana slices, cocnut milk, maple syrup....put in a blender, whizz up and serve. Utterly delicious and healthy too.

Hi all , I totally accept how difficult it is to give up things we love , but unfortunately to find the foods that are causing pain/ fatigue triggers in our bodies , then we need to do a true elimination diet. I know many of you will be upset with what I say.

I'm afraid it's like being told to stop smoking Depends how serious we are about trying to help our bodies without drugs On an elimination diet we don't just stop wheat or choc for a few days ie it may be the dairy or the sugar that's that's the problem not the little bit of choc in a fudge. Pure choc or at least 80% choc is the choc that is good for you. Apart from that give up all foods for except what is stated in the elimination diet for ONE MONTH then introduce one food at a time and record your bodies reactions . It's not easy but living daily with pains and fatigue is not easy it is Bloody Awful . For me I cannot eat red meat, wheat gluten dairy tomatoes caffeine chilli peppers oranges MSG in Chinese food and a few others that I can take occasionally Its not easy but well worth the effort . Take care and I do hope it helps
