Yes, I have difficulty getting my symptoms across to my doc - but be persistent if you can.

Is there a local ME/CFS/FIBRO clinic near you anywhere ? I have just insisted on a referral there as GP surgery has little to offer in terms of help for me.

Rheumatology has not been suggested and when I asked about pain clinic I was told that "they don't deal in that sort of pain" - helpful (not) .

Have amitriptalyne for helping sleep/pain and talked about "sleep hygiene" and told to use normal pain killers / deep heat for muscle aches for the time being.

Good luck and keep going back !

Yup, i've been ping-ponged so much i'm dizzy! I even went last week to ask about the fact that I am choking randomly.. sometimes waking up and can't breath... I got told that i'm already seeing the neurosurgeon for my neck problems and there is always 999!!!!! I said I might have trouble having a telephone conversation if I can't actually breath! lol! Now my throat is so sore I can hardly swallow..... going back in to see a different doc on an emergency appt... it's a shame cos my current chinese lady GP has been brilliant for the last couple of years.... I just think she has got ground down by constantly not knowing what to do!

Hi Peachy I have that problem, and was given one of those xrays where u swallow some stuff, and they said the muscle in the throat kept going into spasm, told me not to panic as it will go back to normal each time it happens and to drink a little drop a fizzy drink, but I know what u mean although they said try not to panic its not dangerouse I still do and think im going to choke, I do feel for you cos its not nice, u take care Cookie alias Dee x

I went to my dr. last week, armed with 2 new medications that I thought may help me, he googled them (really???) and then stated they weren't available in this country and they probably would not help me anyway. OK, the name brands were not available BUT the generic is, I found out later!! Also, who is he to tell me that they won't work, if he was in as much pain as we all are - he would know that anything is worth a go!!!!

My GP moaned about having to write a cert for me the last time I saw her, I thought if I was getting paid to sign medical certs, I would be more than happy to do it. What is it with some doctors these days, they get well paid for what little they have to do. Fair enough, the job is not the most exciting one in the world, but it is a job they chose to do.

Any doctors out there reading this, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE! Don't give me some sermon about life and how everything is going to pot. If I need a cert, just print it off and sign it, job done. Have a nice day as they say. :)

This makes me furios , I get so frustrated hearing this from people because I've had a similar exsoerience. I sometimes get put off going the next time round . I only go because I really have to and I get the same treatment myself at times. If I had been more of a moaner and pushy , I would of got diagnosed years ago . I may of actually been able to prepare for the coming years because I know fibro can get worse the longer you have it. Instead they fobbed me off with virus, cough virus, throat infection , ear infection , you name it , there's nothing we can do for back pain. Thyroid s fine ,, ect ect ect ,, oh your getting older ,, oh uour ok it because of your age , oh your just worn out you need to slow down a bit. Your periods are fine they have allways been heavy . I was on the 6th water infection , the run of 6 in 7 months when I hit rock bottom and ended up totally ill before they started delving be ause they really had to. Don't let them gob you off , it's easy to just go home n forget after a bit because I've done it myself become dispondant . Give it some time then go back ,, really fight to be heard don't let them do it. I took a big breath then went back in and bacically said I'd had enough I don't care if you don't want to hear it. I want some answers and I'm not a bloody hypo I'm a person with a awful condition . Think my GP got a shock, after he agreed to send me to a pain clinic, i said thankyou and left with a smile ,,,X take care with you all way , let us know his you get on , get bk in there girl x

i must say i have the opposite treatment to what you are talking about. my g.p. does on occassion say well a lot of your problems may be fibro however he will refer me for x rays, different consultants eg reumatologist, pain clinic, occupational therapist who has been fantastic with me, orthotics department fibro 6 - 8 weeks course at the hospital so i really cannot help. when i go i have to write down what i have to talk to him about - i have been having terrible problems with my short term memory so he had a lot of bloods tested for dementia tests, all bloods came back ok so he is refering me to the memory clinic the problem could be fibro or meds related but he does have things checked thoroughly for me. i aLSO have stage two COPD.

Hope you get the treatment you need
