Hi, I regularly feel like I've run a marathon when I've barely done anything to strain my muscles. Is this a common problem or just because I'm so unfit since having fibromyalgia that any use of the muscles means that they will ache no matter what I do?

Does anybody else get aching muscles for no reason
You will ache no matter what you do . Ifeel as though ive been in a boxing ring and ive rested today xxx
I think it doesnt matter what you do, i have daily aches and pains and my muscles are proberbly the worst. I cant carry a handbag no more as it makes my arms feel like i have been weight lighting.
My calves hurt all the time, and it doesnt matter if a rest neither.
Sorry i havent been much help lol.
hugs, kel xxxx
Thanks guys, at least I know it's normal, not that it makes the pain better but it helps to know I'm not the only one. xxx
The pain is always there, sometimes worse than others. even when i wake up in the morning. you are definately not alone, xxxxx
Yes, very much so....pretty much all the time. My doctors said that's normal and I'm going to have to learn to live with it. The good news as Susie says though is that we are not alone at least. I think finding this forum has at least made me feel slightly more sane and much less alone! I don't know a single person outside of this forum who has fibro other than myself. So glad I found this forum. xxxx
Hi stormlaw and a big welcome if you are new to the forum, as I haven't noticed you before.
As you have heard from the others, muscle pain is something we all deal with on a daily basis, some more than others and good pain management is best dealt with by your nearest Pain Clinic, for which you will need a referral from your GP.
If you can get the Pain Clinic to refer you for a place on a Pain Management Course, so much the better. I had to wait wait a year for a place, but it was well worth it, to learn about what exercise is and isn't beneficial, how to pace and distraction techniques.
In the mean time, the Fibro Action main web site holds a wealth information about all sorts of things and if you click on the link below it will take you straight to the Symptoms page, a good place to start.

good luck and happy hugs, kate
Thanks Kate, susie and purpleblossom! A pain management course sounds like a good idea, I will definitely ask my dr at my next appt because I'm not managing it well at the moment for sure.
I think there must be some correlation with emotion and pain as well as I saw my brother on Saturday (he moved to USA in 2008, so don't see him very often) just for the night and had to say goodbye the same day I said hi! I've been crying all day and in more pain than usual today, a delayed reaction by a day but then I find with fibro that if I've overdone it one day then it's not the day after but the 2nd day after that the symptoms appear worse. Just makes living a normal life near impossible. Oh well, I'll keep battling on and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be feeling a bit better than now!
Take care all xxx
yes..i feel as if ive walked up everest most of the time and i can actually only walk a few yards as its so painful...im afraid its all part of the fibro xxxxxxxx
I think most of us get muscle aches for no obvious reason.I feel a lot of the time as if I have done 10rounds with Mike Tyson. I often can't hold a newspaper or a book to read and have to put them on a dining table to do so.
If you haven't been to a pain clinic it will probably be worthwhile. Mine is run by a Dr Collett who also occasionally writes in the Daily Mail. Unfortunately I didn't get on very well with the Pregabolin she prescribed but the pain management sessions were useful in helping to cope with pain without medication .
Hope you get some help and keep reading here, other peoples experiences help to keep things in proportion.
Nice to hear from you Kim. I can only say I wish you all the best in coping with your fibro and hoping you have understanding people around you.
lol
